Kust found out I have a highly regarded Indy closeby (Merparts) that's quite a bit of peace of mind as I had my concerns with eumours I've heard about reliability issues

we are based in Glasgow and have a 1998 SLK Kompressor which is needing some bodywork round the rear arches. Central locking isnt working either.

Can you recommend a body shop that would take on the repair and respray.

Banned driver in Glasgow. I use Merparts for servicing, they are good. Then again, a mobile guy is useful if the car will fail to proceed. Either getting a W221 S320/350cdi or Audi A8 D3 3.0/4.2Tdi post ban next year. I will keep you in my mind.

Yep. 8yrs NCB 1 DD40. They key bit is 8yrs NCB, quotes with the DD40 go up £200 with the DD40 from £500 to £700. Its a non event. Plus I've not paid VED/Insurance for 2 years. Bar the fine I am quids in.

Is your NCB still valid if you had two years without insurance , I thought that for a NCB to still be viable it was based on continued cover ?

Yep, bans only 1 year 8 months, so if I get my extended test passed within 4 months of the ban being lifted, the NCB carries. I'll take a few lessons and apply for a test soon as I pass the theory, and the theory will be booked shortly after my provisional arrives. I'll get it done and my 8yrs NCB carries as I'll have had comp insurance within 2 years of it being cancelled.

NCBs hold if cover is held within 2 years of it being cancelled. I'm fine.
