Hi i have an issue with my car, its a 2006 s class with keyless go and keyless entry, all the locks and handles for keyless entry and locking work fine as in latches open and close but the issue is that once the car is closed and the key is not nearby the doors still open from the outside even though the latches are still down.

There seems to be no resistance for the outside handles and the door opens as if the car is unlocked. If i do the same from the inside when the car is locked there is resistance and the latch raises before the door opens.

Noticed this issue as someone went through my car and when i went to check it the doors were opening even though the car was locked

Does anyone know what the issue is as i would like to get this fixed asap

That is odd.

Does it do this on all 4 doors?

Never heard of this, if the buttons are down the car should be locked. How far away is the key.

Just out of curiosity change the locking by pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the key till the led flashes, the will change the locking to drivers door only on the first press and the whole car on the second.

What I am thinking now is, there could be a spare key under a seat, this could upset the system.

The key was left in the house to test it out, so it was no where near the car.

I will try changing the locking to drivers door only and see what that does

The car only came with the one key so it is a possibility that a spare key could be in the car but the latches should not go down if the key is in the car

When you pull the door handle that does not open, does the dash light up with a message?

Yes it lights up saying key not detected, all the other doors just open and the alarm goes off

I would say the 3 doors that open, have a fault with their locks, either a mechanical fault, or electrical (sounds mechanical).

Is there any evidence that the doors have been opened up (door cards off etc?)

There are no obvious signs no, im going to try and take them off to see what the issue is, it feels like something is suppose to release when the doors lock but on my car they are stuck in place

Is it easy to take the door cards off

Not sure, I haven't had to take them off on mine, can't be that hard though.

Make sure you have a few of the plastic rivets as some always break.

I have the same locks on my car, and there are some 16 updates.

Just spoken to my friend who had a 221 new, we had to have 3 new locks fitted while under guarantee.

You cannot even see the door locks with the door liner off, they are behind the glass, and the windows have to come out to get to the locks.

I have a faulty lock Alex, but I have left it for the last 4½ years.

This is an odd fault, and so much work.

I just went out and checked all mine, as I had a thought. I wouldn't know if they where broken! Luckily all working.

It's not like they had 5 years of development....

They should have stuck with vac locks. I do miss those. Silent!
