I'm thinking of naming my 63 'Panzer', don't know why but when I switch on those twin turbos in the morning the noise is guttural and it just makes me think of the Panzers....

There is a Swedish Leopard 2A6 (an actual Panzer) with its own YouTube channel that goes by the name of Scipio Africanus

No names for cars. Well there were two that had names. My ex missus named a Ford Sierra 'Sally Sierra' No idea why but it did make my laugh when she referred to it :D.
I also had a a Volvo 340 for work. I travelled a lot of miles and wanted to save the new(ish) Accord we had.
That I called 'The Dorkster', because it is an ugly dorky piece of ****. A dreadful car as it turned out!

Ah the 340, all kinds of poor engineering rolled into one! DAF dynamics, Renault engines what could possibly go wrong!

I had one of these...

What on earth was I thinking?

Terribly troublesome thing.

The 440 was undoubtedly an improvement but still woeful- still Renault engined IIRC.
I had a 480ES which was actually quite nice apart from the fact the car was designed LHD and converted to RHD whch put many components under too much strain. I had a clutch go in 4 months, front end resprayed 3 times, all electrics failed at one point or another....but I actually liked it.
Wasn't until I returned to Volvo several years later with the 850T5 that I took them seriously again
Had an C70T5 an S60D5 a V70R since and have an XC90 now...

I have had a few Volvo's too and some of the RPV engined 604's. The best Volvo was my 245GL fitted with an LD28 Nissan and 5 speed, fantastic tow car. I up graded to a 244 GLT with overdrive and it was the worse tow car I ever had the misfortune to experience, over heated every time, handled rubbish and burned fuel like 55 showing off around town.
Did have a nice 760 turbo estate which was a nice car too

The 340 was almost replaced with 440, they at least looked a bit cool.
That was my first and last dabble with Volvo and as mentioned above it wasn't really a Volvo.
Had one or two as hire cars and quite liked them but not enough to consider one.

No it was a second aunt's husband sold cars and suggested I buy a Renault 19 Energy. It came complete with rust holes and flat matt red paint :D
To be fair it did over 60k problem free in 18 months or so until the brakes failed one day going to work. I left it in the car park a couple of months and then had it taken away for scrap.

The Volvo ended in a similar way. I rotated it 360° on the M61 in lane three on black ice, flattened the central barrier and walked away. Unfortunately a Rover 400 did not expect that 340 in lane three on a dark November morning. That finished that 340 off. Police did think had it been another marque of old car I might not have been so lucky.

No name for my car. My M3 was called "Clover". So many times i would over cook it exiting a roundabout, but it had the power to give it some welly and it'd correct itself. 4 leaf clovers are lucky......that M3 was lucky too. Lucky i didnt write it off.

Reading this took me for a trip down memory lane. I remember my parents had a 1990 340 Volvo 1.4 automatic (ummm nice!!) Always remember the car would rev to 4000 rpm wether doing 30mph, or 80mph, it had only done 20,000 miles & was sitting in the dealership getting fixed more than sitting in the garage at home. Terrible car

My daughter names our cars, we’ve had to name a few:

Alan the Astra
Sally the senator
Oscar the omega
Violet the Volvo
Terri the transit
And now murph the Mercedes

I just normally call them ‘please start’

'93 500SL-32, '01 W210 Estate E240 (RIP), 02 R230 SL500, 04 Smart Roadster Coupe, 11 R350CDi
We have "The bus", a 7 seater w210 estate.
Then there's "The Wheelie Bin", my Smart Roadster (so named because it's grey and the panels are plastic).
Then there's Katie the 500SL, named because her number plate is K***TEA.
Then there's the MINI, but that doesn't have a name.
Finally there's Malcolm. Because that's whose car it was. (RIP young man).
