Well ladies & gents,

after some time away from doing things to cars I have sat down and worked out a few solutions to my carious CL-based issues. The main ones are, in no order of importance:

1. Satnav does not work.
2. Phone calls via car kit can have significant noise at the other end.
3. Cellular reception inside the car is poor.
4. Limited or no audio streaming to stereo, via Vissssseeeeeoooo only.
5. Phone charging by 12V socket only.

There are a few others- rattly passenger door control module, broken wire to driver's door mirror indicator, irritating rattle coming from the undertray area- but in terms of jobs that I can tackle I am looking at the above.

So, looking into this I have come up with the following solutions:

1. Satnav does not work- SEND TO CLUSTER REPAIRS, they offer a repair service for £70.
2. Phone calls can be noisy- remove OCP, clean all contacts.
3. Cellular reception inside car is poor- install my custom signal booster solution.
4. Limited audio streaming- modify COMAND 2.5 to accept Aux input; run aux socket into centre console armrest.
5. Phone charging via 12V socket- install dual USB 12V- 5B bank.

If anyone is interested I have a work instruction with photos on how to modify COMAND 2.5 (NOT NTG 2.5) to accept an Aux input in place of the tape deck, while still maintaining its 6-CD autochanger.

Next I'm going to try to figure out how to install a reversing camera and get it to work via the fitted screen.

Craig, instructions on the tape/aux input mod would be great, have seen differing options but none in enough detail to diy.

2005 CL500.
The tabs break off the door control modules. They (the tabs) can be epoxied and screwed into place.

Yes, I've done the driver's door already, just need to make some new tabs for the passenger door and get it done.

I'm trying to sort out a decent Aux in at the moment on my C215 (comand 2.5, 2000MY). Would it be possible to get a look at the DIY as well please?

Thanks

Alex
