HEY!

My last service was some time last year (march i think) and when I look at the computer it says I have 10,000 miles left to go for next service - As I do a lot of motor way driving should I carry out a mini service? eg top up oil and coolant etc....?

Check all levels and wait for the service indicator to say it needs doing

Your motorway driving is relatively stress free on a car. As JB says follow what the service indicator says. Personally I do an annual regardless to change over fluids, but that’s me...

If, when the year is up you are still a long way off the service, I'd do an oil change, it doesn't cost much and it gives peace of mind. You probably don't need it as you are mostly motorway. I do loads of short journeys, so I do an oil change every 5000.

.
I had a service at the end of February, and my ASSIST PLUS also shows about 10k miles left, but I know it will change to 30 days, and start the countdown in a week or so.

I'd always change oil and filter at least every 10k. I do mine every 4.5k cos its a filthy diesel.

Your car is on yearly servicing anyway so it will need a service in March, that is the fixed schedule, leave it till then

I used to change the oil and filter on my Volvo when the oil just started to go from clear to slightly brown tinge, it was a diesel and I got the oil for free :D I had a huge stock of filters, I did 150,000kms in that car in 4 years, in the end I got fed up changing the oil nearly every month  though it was fairly easy, I just drove the car over my pit. :)

Hi, not wanting to hijack this thread, but I have a similar query. I bought my c220 cdi 3 weeks ago (1st MB and loving it), but there was a mix up with the service dates. The dealer I bought it from gave me some money off for the mix up, but it turns out the car was last serviced in September 2015 when the previous owner bought it He only covered 8000 miles in the 2 years he owned it tho.. my assist plus says 140 days to the next service, but I’m wondering if I should leave it that long, or get a service done sooner for peace of mind. There’s no problems with the car, plenty of meat of the brake pads, but 2 yr old oil in the engine concerns me slightly...
I’m lucky enough to live 5 mins away from MBS in Southampton, so wondered if I should pay them a visit...

Cheers
Steve

Get it done, 140 days won't make much difference, they will reset it so you can carry on using the service indicator

You are in good hands at MBS.
Had mine serviced there a couple of weeks ago and I travel from Poole to have it done.

Thanks. Always good to hear comments like this. I’ve heard nothing but good things about MBS. I actually did a bit of digging before I bought the car, to make sure there was an independent specialist I could use, and I’m lucky they are just down the road

So had the car serviced on Friday by MBS. Impressed with how helpful and friendly they were. Car had all the filters changed, new oil, and brake fluid change. Brake pedal feels much lighter, and the car is definitely more responsive. I guess the fuel filter had a lot to do with that... few advisories tho which I have to say, scare me a little, even tho they said none of them need to looking at till next service... torque arms are a bit worn, engine and gearbox mounts, and rear discs slightly corroded. I had a look online to see how much torque arms are if I get the whole lot done at the next service I’m looking at a huge bill!
I may try and replace them myself over the year to try and spread the cost...
Are torque arms something that need replacing regularly? My car has only done 78k, would’ve thought they’d go a lot longer than that...

Surprised you need new engine and gearbox mounts at 78K on a 2012 car.
At least you are in good hands at MBS.

Weak points on W204 cars along with the rear sub frame bushes, mine are going at 66k and the rear sub frame bushes were done in January 2017 at 60k
