I'm confused about this, can you get models with or without this. Or is this a range? I saw a 64 plate c220d wth Bluetec on the back, but when I checked online and the car is a sports premium blutec. When I was looking at C250 and C350 some were the AMG version. Has the sports premium range replaced this now?

Blueefficiency is the MB term for Euro 5. DPF and EGR basically. Bluetec is Euro 6 (the above with Adblue).

AMG Line is a trim level as is Sport, Sport Premium etc.

Great thanks. Is AMG more desirable? I been looking at some older models as well, they still look really nice.

BlueEfficiency was the front wing badges on diesels even those with BluTec on the boot lid.

Don't confuse AMG with AMG Line. One has the big burbly V8 petrol engines, the other is a bit of chrome on the splitters of mare aggressive spoilers, newer cars as that trim level that replaced others along the way

Izzat so on Blueeff? Interesting.

OP, you should be ignoring those 220 engines and getting into the 350s mimimum. It’s the way of the future!

I think it's going to come down to how much I'm spending and how far to travel. But I would prefer the 350.

Euro 6 engines have dropped the bluetec name now, there is no blue anything badges from 2016 on as far as I can see?

I'll come back to you when I start eyeing up test drives if that's ok. Need to know what sort of things to look for.

I thought blue efficiency was the first attempt basically stop start tech...

The 'Blue' is Deutsch for 'Green' or 'environment' as applied by the German automakers. VAG had BlueMotion for example. Blueefficiency included lower rolling resistance tyres, often narrower, little bits of trim to aid streamlining, plainer wheels with flat surfaces. The Tories changed from Blue to the Green tree logo thing!!!

Start/stop c/w urea injection and all the kit added up to having an extra passengers always in the car even if you switched it off, hardly efficient. But it keeps the politicos happy as they've done something environmentally friendly, or so they were led to believe!!

‘Sport’ or ‘AMG Line’ will give you bigger brakes, stiffer/lower suspension and a body kit so well worth having, there is no increase in power, but the mix caters for a more spirited drive, I particularly like the bigger brakes they make driving effortless

As already said blueffiency relates to engine modifications to comply with EU5 and BLUETEC to the addition of urea injection to comply with EU6 regs, neither gives and performance advantage although EU6 may be the better choice if you intend to keep the car some time

How do you find it as a daily used car. Which model did you go for?

My 1st was a W221 S350L used for long distance commuting. Superb.

Current is a W166 GLE350AMGLine used for towing. Again superb.
