1 x o ring and 1x pintle cap (pastic), fell past slightly open inlet manifolds when removing the fuel rail. How important is it that they are removed.

The o ring is an o ring. The pintle cap is a flat plastic piece approx 5mm in diameter:

I have managed to locate it with a borescope through the spark plug hole but not had much luck in removing it. Its located in such a place where I cannot see it and use a tool to remote it.

I tried a rubber hose on a hoover and manged to pick it up, but then dropped it again.

Potentially catastrophic engine damage lies ahead... there was a guy on here with a CL55 that had billowing white smoke, you may remember? Think that.

You can get hook attachments for your borescope I believe Alex which might be the answer- suppose they might blow through and burn up if they were smaller but not sure on that size?

Tried that, its not steerable and the viewing angle is too shallow to see enough.

Try some 8mm copper pipe duck taped to the Hoover. It will be more 'steerable' than rubber hose.

Tip. To make the copper pipe easier to bend/shape. Heat it first with a blow lamp to a Cherry red, and then dunk into water.

All it needs to do is lodge under a valve head and things will touch in a way that won't be good....

Wind the engine round by hand so the cylinder with the part in it is near TDC with a valve open then hit it with a vacuum over the plug hole.

Thin wire with some duct tape reverse rolled around the wire and inserted into hole , then Hoover the ring towards the tape with Hoover vacuum ?

They are all good theories but I now am unable to see where they are with the camera at all. Tried blowing around with compressed air, no luck.

Im going to try a wider angle boroscope and a bit of brake line shaped to size I think.

Without knowing which part of the stroke the cylinder was at, it could have had a valve open so it could now be at the air intake or moved to the exhaust.

I have located it again, by setting piston to btc. I will attempt to retrieve it at a later point when my will to stand out in the cold has come back.

You could also coat the end of a bit of brake pipe with contact adhesive in the hope it will grab the bits.

Funny you mention that, that was my last method. I will browse the internet for tiny metal picker uppers and see if anything exists.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
If its rubber and plastic turn the engine so the valves on the cylinder the bits are in are closed
then use a gas torch in the plug hole and burn off the bits in there then blow out the particle remains.
