My 2009 CLC went for Mot, and failed.

The drivers side door mirror indicator was not as bright as the passenger side - hence the fail. It has been like this for years.
I have removed and dismantled the mirror and several of the leds are inop. These are encased in a plastic moulding, so impossible to get to.

MB do not supply the led housing separately, so a complete new mirror is needed. Cost over £200. I have strips of spare leds which I use for my camper lighting. It's so frustrating that I can't fit them into the mirror casing. Another example of total waste - unless anyone can come up with a bright (!) idea?

2005 CL500.
I did this on my car also.

You do not need a complete new mirror housing.

Flyingspanner - that looks about right.
£45 is a lot better than £200+.

I scoured the Bay, and didn't find that.
Now I just need to check that it'll fit my CLC.
Thank you.

Checked fitment, ordered, and it's on its way.
Thanks.
Why MB can't supply beats me - it's obviously a part they buy by the zillion.

I changed out both on my S204 a while ago due to misting up/condensation. Also bought genuine MB parts off eBay, IIRC cost about the same £45 - but I could not get the glass out to dismantle the mirrors, so cost me another £20 for my local indie to do. Even he was surprised how much force was required to remove the mirror glasses!

Surely mirror indicators aren't an MOT failure, some cars dont have them at all! As long as the main front and rear indicators work can't you just disconnect them and say they weren't fitted from new?

Yes but you need to have a side repeater of some sort on cars after about 1984

I was told that, for the Mot, 'if it's there, it has to work.'
