Well, the deed is done, agreed terms with the garage and I pick up my E 350 CDi on Saturday afternoon, YYYEEHHHAAAA!

Sorry for the over exuberance, lol.

Starting to get pretty damned excited too, I can hardly think of anything else at the moment. Even when I've been organising the insurance and there were little hiccups, such as wrong information on the documents, it's been really stupid stuff too, like they marked it up as a saloon rather than a coupe, despite being told repeatedly, I still have a silly smile on my face and a remarkable amount of patience. I'm surprised I haven't balled anyone out yet.

Roll on Saturday, can't wait!

Well, as soon as I get the car detailed to my standard, I'll post some up.

I had to laugh, the guy who I'm buying the car from actually said, when we were talking about collection, "I know what you'll be doing on Saturday afternoon Jimbo, you'll be washing and polishing that car as if your life depended on it, lol. We just couldn't hope to come close to your standard" and the funny thing is, he's right, I will be, he's known me for more than 30 years lol.

one of the few things us blokes do genuinely get excited about , the buzz off collecting a new car is brill

The best thing of all is that it lasts a few days too! It's not like getting drunk or, high ( I imagine) lasting one night and then over and done with. :D

I'm already planning a little road trip to familiarise myself. My youngest lad is going to Stirling on Tuesday and usually gets the train, a round trip would equate to just over 100 miles and would let me drive all sorts of roads and also experience daylight and night driving.

An excellent drive then. Do it!! :) Although you really don't need any excuse to take a new car on a long run :D
Just enjoy!

Awesome, good car and great engine. You'll enjoy it. Everyone quotes power which the 350cdi still has, but the real luxury is torque.

Sorry I'm still learning how to post with the new picture provider now that the bucket has gone.
I thought these would do for going on with now that the alloys have been refurbed and fitted, wow, what a difference.:cool::D:D

Is it my imagination or the poor pic quality (taken with my iPhone) but does the rear bumper look a marginally different shade of silver?

God, what a difference those alloys make now that they're silver. They looked b***dy 'orrible in black, lol.
Now she looks stunning.

That's what I'm looking forward to most tbh. I really missed the torque of the Turbo Diesel, my last car had a N/A engine and whilst it was a nippy wee thing it took me ages to get used to wringing it's neck to get it going. I look forward to the plant foot and, LIFT OFF! experience, lol.

I think it's just the way the light is falling on the bumper, it's in shadow from the fence and brick wall to the rear.
Verrry nice car and good pics but they are let down by that ugly red splotch next to your magnificent machine :D:D
Enjoy your day and enjoy your car!!

I echo the above! Congrats Jim, the E350 Coupé is a nice package.

I still get a wee buzz from mine every time I start it, even after 3.5 years!

The buzz on collection day however was marginally diminished by SWMBO's comment upon entering the showroom... "Is that it? It looks like an 80s Escort!"

Think it's time she went to Specs Savers mate. How could she possibly compare the MB work of Art to an 80's Escort?

Due to having an eye condition the tints work well for me, in fact I love the black roof lining in the car as it stops the brightness you get in the light grey lined cars, that really hurts my eyes. The only thing I'm less than ecstatic about is the way they've been fitted, I think I probably wouldn't have noticed the gaps if it hadn't been for the window/door operating system where it drops the glass marginally at the back every time you lock and unlock the car. I can live with it though, my last car had the same set-up so, I'm used to it. ;)
