'97 E300 TD transmission prob.

Hi all, attempting to help out elderly neighbor. Transmission stuck in limp mode, have today replaced conductor plate, pilot bushing, filter, gasket and fluid to correct level but still stuck in limp mode. Will I have to get ECU codes reset? Any other suggestions I can try? Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, computer things not my forte. TIA, Nat

Update for anyone else with this problem. Rather than drive in limp mode to get codes read/reset, bought a second hand transmission control unit on line for £15, transmission now shifting fine. Regards, Nat
