image.jpeg I can't restart my 220CDI after changing the high pressure fuel pump, even if I turn the engine over for two minutes continuously, and drain a fully charged battery. After trying I can see bubbles rising in the vertical fuel pipe on the front of the engine.

I'm gong to try replacing the two squishy white washers on the fuel feeds into the pump, to see if that helps, but I'm having problems finding them online. Can anyone tell me what they are properly called (or better still give me a part number), and recommend a supplier?

Thanks.

I don't think the foamy washers do very much really, the seal is made by the O rings, fuel system is a tw*t to bleed though, save your battery/starter motor and try a little easi start straight in the egr valve ;).

OK. I bought some easy start and tried again. It sort of caught, and ran for a second or two, then died. I kept trying, using up half a can of Easy Start, and drained the battery. And now the Electronic Power Control has come on. Any advice?

Something wrong, then.
One or two sprays into the air intake should be enough to start it, which will then bleed all the air out.
You didn't mix up the two pipes from the high pressure pump, did you?

It must have issues other than just air in the system then, next step would generally be a leak off test or get some live data from the fuel rail to establish whether there is sufficient pressure in the rail to run the injectors. your going to need a properly charged/new battery for both of those.

No, I’ve been very careful. Do you know what is likely to be triggering the EPC warning?
