C250 AMG Sport Coupe Blue Efficiency Automatic 2013
Hi,

I’ve just bought my first MB - 2013 C-Class Coupe 250 AMG Sport Blue-Efficiency AUTO, 31500 miles.

The last Digital Service Report (at 17256 miles) says the next service is due at 32250 miles but the Assyst Service indicator says the next service (A7) is due in 7100 miles so, 38600.

Which should I go by - the Digital Service Report or the Assyst Service indicator?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Go by the Assyst, as your car maybe has had nice long gentle drives, it analyses/ adapts the indicator to suit.

If you happen to start doing lots of short stop/start journeys, you may find that assyst will ‘speed up’ and ask for the service to be sooner.

Nothing to worry about, just go by what the dashboard tells you.

If I read correctly, OP's car is a W204 facelift, so isn't the service interval 12 months or 15.5k miles, whichever comes first? It certainly is on my pre-facelift 204! Also IIRC it needs an ATF and filter change at 37.5k miles (or IIRC 5 years, whichever comes first).

Yep, as chrisazle says , yearly service schedule . The warning will go off a month before to remind you . Next service unless you exceed the mileage will be 12 months after the last one (reminder at 11 months)

That's buggered the OP's cash flow predictions! Welcome to MB, when they changed the C class from 203 to 204 in 2007-8 they also changed the service interval from 2 years/15.5k miles to 1 year/15.5k miles, which ever came first. Guess the main dealers were not getting enough bookings for routine services so bitched at MB causing the change. The 37.5k mile ATF filter and luid change is only for the 7G box, not the 5 speed my car has, so that's another reason to have a row with an MB main dealer (as I did when I bought my S204).

Personally, especially as we only do about 8k miles pa and car gets quality synthetic oil, I ignore the 12 month thing! On advice from a very knowledgeable local indie, I'm not having the ATF/Filter changed until 100k miles - next January!

When I reset the service indicator on my W203 it states 10 000 miles to next service. I tend to go by recommended times/distances in my Haynes manual as a rough guide, perhaps changing items sooner rather than later, depending on what they are. (eg oil & oil filter every 5000 miles, due to the way I use the car).

My 2005 CLK (based on a W203 I believe) works out servicing based on the first of 2 years or 12400m (20000Km).

As the car is driven following a service it usually increases the range till next service, based on the car's usage.

At the point of service reset there is an option to choose engine oil used - "basic" oil resets to 10000m (or 2 years); "long life" oil resets to 12400m (or 2 years).

I have just taken the car back following service as it was incorrectly reset to 10000m (or 2 years). Once this has been incorrectly set via the dash it apparently needs STAR to correct otherwise the A to B to A service sequence gets messed up

I reset mine using a combination of methods shown on here &/or found on line. (can't remember which now). Yes if you reset once it comes up as the next service(the wrong one), but if you repeat the reset it comes around to the next one( the right one).

21,000 plus miles ... :(
On the same oil .... rather you than me, that liquid grinding slush will be looking like tar by then.

I would service it right now. As it must have done 14,000 miles

Many thanks all. I’m gonna get it serviced. I’ll only worry otherwise.

Is this how they all work? Mine was saying 320 days, could this change?

Yep ... as you get closer to the date sometimes you see it add or take away days/miles .

Also topping up oil seems to push it back (if you need to top up) ...

I do need to get into checking oil levels again, so many things I didn't do as a company car driver!

No longer own a Mercedes Benz
On my car (granted not the same model as yours) I've decided to service it myself as I know the resale value of the car will be peanuts and I want to keep it and run it into the ground. So I buy the 20L Genuine MB Oil from ebay and I do an oil change every 9-10k miles which for me is every 7-8 months. It's cheap enough to do and I believe (perhaps incorrectly) in preventative maintainence and keeping the oil relatively clean (especially as far as the turbo is concerned) is a key part of that.
