I wouldn't use either . Sealants are good , but a lot of people then apply a wax on top to create more shine . Try Sonax BSD (brilliant shine detailer ) which is easy to apply . If you want to go a step further use Dodo Juice lime prime first .

^ As above. Sonax BSD is good stuff to apply after polishing and waxing.

Some seriously bad advice here, the sealant or Wax you put on, especially on a silver car is only minutely responsible for shine it’s all in the prep and polishing stages that will get you the best results, plus sealants do tend to suit silver cars better than Wax, for something easy, home user friendly id recommend some Autobrite Direct Supersonic or Gyeon Cancoat

This ^^^^^

Sealant and Wax (despite what the marketing blurb tells you) do next to naff all to give the car gloss or shine.

Think of it this way:

If you want your shoes to shine you polish them
If you want jewellery to shine you polish it
If you want your wooden furniture to shine you polish it - to protect the shine you beeswax it.

Wax and Sealants are there to protect the finish. Yes some will enhance the appearance (Sonax BSD is one) but it (and others) won't perform miracles on an unpolished car.

Personally i wouldn’t advocate the use of bsd as protection it’s a quick detailer with some hydrophobic sealant properties it won’t protect finish and gloss long term, and offers no uv protection like a proper sealant or Wax does

Let's not go overboard here it's just car cleaning. Now I'm just an amateur who's been doing this a few years . If the op washes his car then clays it and the paint being silver doesn't have too many small swirls on it . If he used dodo juice lime prime or similar and then sprayed some detailer or wax on it then his car would look fantastic and better than any car in his street that hasn't been detailed by a pro . He would look back in amazement at how good it looks . His neighbours would comment at how good it looks and ask his advice on what he did to make it look that good. He would do it again next month and marvel that the £40 in products could do such a fantastic job . He may then think of adding the extra layer of products to his routine . But at no point would he think I was given seriously bad advice !! After all is not heart surgery he's just cleaning his car to a much higher standard than before .

Anyone who comes up with a it’s just car cleaning response has no idea how big the detailing industry has become and how seriously us non professional weekend detailers take it, granted decent products do help but a bit of prewax cleaner and a coat of wax just doesn’t cut it for true detailing enthusiasts

I know it's a multi billion pound industry , i've even got some quarterly detailing mags which the very existence of shows how big the market is . The industry has easily extracted a few hundred quids worth from me . I have huge respect for those involved . It's a real skill that I don't even get close to .
I am perfectly able though to suggest based on my experience a couple of products that will leave the op with a shiny car for a few quid .
My irritation was the seriously bad advice statement . It wasnt and would cause no damage or cost the op more than a few quid to achieve a short lasting shiny car .
I think we can agree on that at least .

I wasn’t referring to it being seriously bad. More that the sealant/wax won’t add shine. I actually didn’t pay attention to the “seriously bad” bit.

I use G technic C2V3

I used to use Collinite 476

Caranuba containing wax gave a better warmer shine on the same car (polished up), but G technic is much much easier to apply.

I have not had any response from my post on detailing world as to its protective properties in comparison to a wax though.

The comment that preparation is really the key to a healthy gloss makes sense to me.

I know very little about car detailing, but my own experience in car bodyshops has convinced me that if the basic gloss is not there to start with, no amount of fancy topping will give it to you.

If the estate agents mantra is 'location, location, location' then the car shine mantra should be 'preparation, preparation, preparation'.

Absolutely. In bodywork painting, the actual painting takes the least amount of time. Its all in the prep!

Me again, do you actually need to use a sealant after you have applied the wax layer??

You can, to increase shine/looks etc but I just clean car. Then apply sealant instead of a wax.

That is known as a "quick detailer" basically its a wax and lubricant in one. It can be used as a final product. If you want something like that though, use (IMO) Gtechnic C2V3 as its the best about.

Weighing in late here. Before I retired, I was living alone in the Middle East and had hours and hours of time to read up, watch YouTube etc on detailing & care care - most of it is smoke and mirrors. If you buy products from reputable manufacturers and follow the instructions, you will get good and perfectly acceptable results.

OR........you could get silly and buy products like this :
