Afternoon all,

Not been on here for a while but I need some help with my SL.
It's not been used for a while so I've spent the last couple of days getting battery (rear) charged and giving it a bit of a clean up inside so I can run it to and from work this week - it's about 25 miles round trip so it'll get some use. The main (starter) battery is fine, the car starts and runs as I'd expect it to.
When I parked it up this afternoon I noticed that the passenger side windows are up but not all the way - the way they go when the door is opened. I tried to shut them using the switches on both doors but nothing's happening. I opened and shut the roof a couple of times and all works fine, with the exception of the window on the passenger door (quarterlight window works as normal).
I had a search round the forum and on the internet and found the usual do a reset advice - but the problem is the windows won't move so the reset isn't going to work.
On further investigation I've found that when I open the passenger door from the outside the handle gives very little resistance - I hope you know what I mean by that, the handles are normally very "solid" and clunky, right now it feels like it takes no effort to open the door.
Everything is working fine - central locking, interior lights (including passenger footwell) working as they should, roof up and down no problems. I've had the PSE pump refurbished recently so I'm happy with everything being as it should.
The assumption I've come to is that the passenger door doesn't think it's shut properly and therefore it's not putting the windows all the way up.

Anyone come across this before, and if so do you know what could be causing it?

All answers/advice welcome.

Thanks.

Oh I meant to say that until this afternoon this never happened, even when the rear battery has been left to go flat from time to time. And it's a brand new battery.

Had a similar problem with my SL last year. Remove the door panel....carefully and try some electrical contact cleaner on the pin terminals of the door ecu or SAM if you like. re-connect and give it a try. Worked for me. Also tried to get some cleaner into the door window switches. If you also removed the drivers door panel and removed the ecu, you could try it on the passenger side to try and eliminate the problem.

cheers

Thanks for the reply, been working all week so was going to have a look at this today but the weather seems to have other ideas!
I'll get the panel off when it stops raining, hopefully it'll give me some clues as to what's gone wrong here.

Fixed it. I took the door panel off and everything inside was mint and bone dry - all connections were clean and properly fitted. I disconnected and reconnected each one and all of a sudden the window moved a few millimitres. Still not working on the switch though so I thought I'd just get the car into the local specialist and let them sort it.
I thought I'd give the door jamb a quick clean up and found what I'd been looking for - just under the striker there's a little push in bar that tells if the door is shut properly, I pushed it in a few times and the window moved to the shut position.
All good now, so if anyone finds their window won't move or go fully shut when the door is closed this is the issue. As it turns out simple fix now that I know where the door plunger is!!

I now have a similar problem in that my drivers side rear window will go fully down, but only half way up. Roof works, main window goes up and down on one touch etc but nothing will get the rear window to move more than half way up. I hear a click from behind me and that's it. Is this a mechanical failure?
