This is what's in the hand book but I don't quite understand how that would equate to the sizes above?
8.5j x 18 ET48
9.0j x 18 ET54

The fronts will sit 23mm further out , closer to the arches as the wheels are the same width.

Rears will do likewise , but 32mm closer to the arches as the rears are 12mm (6mm a side) wider than stock .

I doubt that you will have the room for them , especially at the rear.

Thanks Kenny, think that puts yours out for me then, bit of a shame as you've kept them in good condition and I could do with a second set for summer

No problem mate , i only posted a reply on the forum in-case there were any others thinking about the suitability of the wheels for their car.

Yep makes sense Kenny, bit of a shame as I say but it's just a little too close for comfort

I just want reassurance

W204 C200 CDI AMG Sports (2011)

Currently have
FRONT: 225x40 R18 -
REAR: 255x35 R18 -

I am getting new RIMS ( 8x18 ET50 5.00x5x112 Hubhole 66.60) all round to go with with 225X40 R18 tyres allround

I am assuming they would fit

Any advice please.

You need to know the ET of the existing wheels.

According to your info X referenced with the chart you have :

18x8 50 225/40R18 18x8.5 54 255/35R18 AMG ?

You want to fit : 8x18 ET50

So they will fit based on the above , the back ones will be a few mm difference but nothing i would be concerned about.

Any reason you are are wanting to reduce the rear tyre width by 30mm ?

The profile size (mm) of the rear tyres will be the exactly the same.

255 / 35 = 89.25mm

225 / 40 = 90mm.

Your advice please?

Impossible to advise until all the facts are known.

If it is a cost saving exercise then buy a cheaper brand of tyres, seems crazy to buy another set of wheels and tyres just to save a few quid in original rear tyre costs

If it is a comfort issue then if the car is on stock suspension then either live with it or change cars as there is not much realistically that can be done. You could fit a set of 16" or 17" rims that would need an increased profile , to keep the running diameter the same, which may make the car more comfortable over the potholes but will they fit over the brakes ??

Decreasing the width of the rear rubber may also have an impact on your insurance , should you need it. If you told them they would possibly charge for the change and charge for the modification , if they will cover it at all as , in theory, it is making the car less safe with less of a contact patch on the driven wheels.

Has anyone fitted a 235/40/18 tyre to the front of the non-AMG W204? I have a C250 with AMG pack front wheels (AMG IV, 8Jx18 ET50) which have the 225/40/18 as standard.
I currently suffer from rather severe shoulder wear, both inner and outer. Having considered and, hopefully eliminated tyre pressure issues (under inflation being the most obvious), tracking, notable bush wear, front bearing play etc. I'm still finding it to happen, resulting in the shoulders wearing through when i still have 5mm on the central tread area. Various garages and tyre places have all come back with the same response, tyre rollover during harder cornering. (plenty of roundabouts where i live...) I have noted that, on the 8J wheel, the 225 width sits rather 'stretched' (Michelin PS3, then PS4). I used to have 7.5J wheels on my last car, with 225 width wheels and never suffered this issue, and drove that harder.
I've used various online tyre/wheel size comparison tools, and the 235 tyre comes out as only marginally bigger than the 225, but is crucially more 'square' on the shoulder. I believe that this tyre will fit in the wheel-arch without fouling, but I'm not sure on suspension clearance, so I'm basically asking if anyone has made this change/fit and if it has worked or fouled on the suspension.

Thank you!

The link below is to a chart of all the wheel and tyre combinations as fitted by Mercedes-Benz, AMG, Brabus and Carlsson.

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/information/fitting_chart/mercedes-benz

When trying to establish if a particular tyre size is suitable, or if a certain rim size/offset will fit, then it is a good place to check.

It is periodically updated to include the new model releases.

Advanced: if the tyre size you are considering isn't listed against your model then it probably won't be suitable. Imagine the volume occupied in the wheelarch by a wheel of specific diameter/width/offset listed on the chart > if your wheels in question would sit within that volume, then you'll probably be ok!
eg 18x10ET25 is the largest size mentioned for a model and you're considering 18x9ET35 > then yes they'll likely fit!
eg 17x8ET55 is the largest size mentioned for a model and you're considering 17x8.5ET60 > then there's a good chance that they won't fit without a bit of bodywork labour!

I have Mercedes E350e year 2017. Std front 245/45r18 front and 275/40r18 rear.

Can I use 255/35 R19x8.5 front and back winter tyres and rims on this car?

Appreciate your help, cant find any info about this!

i would advise against fitting a larger 19" rim for a winter wheel, you want as much sidewall as possible for poor weather running. I would find the smallest dia. rim you can which fits over your brakes - ideally look for a 2nd hand set from the same model/year so you don't have to worry about fitment issues.
