Hi all
I wondered if anyone has fitted methanol to their turbo Mercedes? I have the W220 S600 bi turbo and thought meth could make a decent improvement on the running/power? Maybe help to cool the chargecoolers better!?

I know that they have been done on the 55k but not seen it on a 600, anything is possible with time and money

Welcome btw, lovely car but we need pics ;)

Absolutely right :)
Thank you very much I’ve owned it for about 8 months now :)
It’s not Immaculate but I’ll get some decent photos up in the week.

Must say it’s a powerful car! I have had it remapped and was side by side almost with my friends F10 m5... he wasn’t too impressed haha

Paul at “Expert tuning” in Kent.
Have had a lot of personal cars and friends/family cars done by him never had problems.
I’ve got such good throttle response and the pickup is amazing.
Had it delimited as well but haven’t managed the “claimed” 192 it will do.

I also wondered would ceramic coating the chargecoolers help at all? I’ve done it on my vr6 turbo I had and it helped a lot on the exhaust...

I have water/methanol injection on my S65.

Eurocharged ECU/TCU tune that runs very very rich (approx 9.8:1 AFR at some points), so I only run 10% methanol, the rest water. I have run 25/30% in the past but feel its too rich for power.

6GPH nozzle mounted before the TB and progressive controlled on boost, starts at 5psi, full by 18psi. My peak psi is 23.

That, combined with CWA100 IC pump and swirl pot/header system for the ridiculous IC system does wonders for the Intake temps, I saw 40 Deg C after sitting in traffic in these 30 Deg c days with AC on full (keep in mind AC rad is in front of the intercooler rad)

There was very limited space for the pump, I had to put it inside the front wheel arch

Wow ok. So the charge coolers are pretty cool now are they? Must be a decent improvement in power? Or hard to tell as you had it done with remap/tune?

No did it in all in stages. The Meth/water is injected after the charge coolers so does not have a direct effect on the charge cooler temp, but the air intake temps. Yes they make a big difference, if you monitor timing/boost you can see direct effects

It does! and the back sideways quite a bit too :p
Have you done anything with the diff? I’ve got 835 from 684 but unless I really push it I’m not feeling a lot of slip - yeah of course pop the traction off and all hell breaks loose - I need to get mine up on a ramp so I can get the diff cover off and have a look as I’m the second owner of this and I wonder if there’s something lurking in there- certainly no MB option on the data sheet.....

No, to be fair, its only a handful in the wet, there isnt as much wheel spin as you'd think after 1st gear.

It still has the standard open diff.

Same with mine, I have pushed it on occasion but it seems quite composed- not what has been reported to me from numerous owners.

Mine will step out in the wet at 60mph though...... The C63 is more composed, but has less torque and an LSD.

What tyres do you have on there? I have continental but tries to spin up to 60 mph sometimes in the dry

Khumo KU39 and Pzero's on there before. KU39's have good dry grip, probably comparible to the Pzero ****

does depend on your tyre size, I have 275/40/19, so the tyre has a bit of sidewall and flex.

**** - entirely anecdotal and my experience.

I just think that amount of power will be too much for any tyres, including slicks. Caution is the order of the day, chaps. I felt wheelspin at 80 overtaking in the wet, in my humble SL55, with a mere 700NM, so I dread to think what you guys get. I did not look down to see whether the orange triangle ESP light had come on, for understandable reasons.

I had a play in a mates tweaked M4 on the weekend. That was on 275/35/19s and would squirm in the dry with far less torque that you guys have!
