Hi,

I need to replace all four pads on my merc' and was seeking some advice on what to buy and where to buy it from?

Lastly, can you recommend any decent garages where I can get the pads changed in the Bradford area?

Get them from Euro car parts and do them yourself if you can and have the kit to lift the car etc... faaaar cheaper than paying anyone!

I recently fitted Brembo pads and discs on my C240 and they are fine. I also bought from ECP using a discount code. I like the Brembo parts as they include new caliper and disc retention bolts.
Pads can be done in an hour with basic tools and if unsure there are plenty of guides on Youtube.

I did my own discs and pads on the SL and lived to tell the tale. Not too bad, and there are 4 pads per caliper on the fronts.

My issue is, i have a young family and still renting so no drive way to learn how to do this myself. These forums for the time being are a solid win for now. I will take that instead.

You need to have a nice, flat safe space to work if you're going to have any car off theh ground so you made the right decision I would say. Always remember to work safely when DIY'ing.

4 pads per caliper? So 8 pads for NSF and OSF?

No, you have one really big caliper on each front wheel, with four pads in each, so 8 pads in total at the front. The discs are like dustbin lids.

The rears you just have normal calipers with 2 pads in each. So four pads at the rear axle, 8 at the front axle, 12 in total for the car.

Stops very well for such a big bus.

That's some serous stopping power...but considering it's going power, it seems a good idea.

We rarely see the end result of these type of threads. Eg. Who did the job what did they use and how much did it cost. My guess would be £150 for a none specialist to fit generic pads.
By the way I did 35 years in the trade and for the last ten always used and fitted APEC pads and fitting kits. I use them on my own cars too. I've just done the a complete set on my Sl 500 with complete confidence in their performance. I honestly think that all the much praised well known makes are massively over priced and a couple of them are suspect quality that I would have refused to supply.

You are right- I’m always sad about that. It’s hugely helpful when conclusions are posted and I make sure to acknowledge those who do!
Hate to admit though, no knowledge of APEC pads? I must get out more
