The lenses on my E500 regularly now go hazy. I can get them pretty bright with Maguirs plastex cleaner but the result doesn't last more than a week or so. I have tried a cleaner followed by a lens sealer but they still haze up again and next time I clean them I have to abrade off the sealer as well.

Any tips on keeping them clear after cleaning (apart from hiding it in the dark).

PS I use a small triangular detail sander with a cloth wrapped around the head to save on effort. Works well and doesn't spray cleaning paste everywhere.

What sealer are you using? Is it UV protective..? If not, then it isn’t worth using.

Mine were the same. Tried various remedies with limited success.
After final polish I now apply quality wax/sealant & renew regularly.

Thanks,
It came with a cleaning kit but I will check anyway

The latest Meguiar headlight lens cleaning kits come with a small spray container of clear lacquer sealant.
That is what keeps the lens clear for a lot longer. Any clear lacquer spray would do as well.

I have also looked at replacement lenses on Ebay for about £40 a pair but the amount of work involved in removing the headlight puts me off

After abrading/ polishing all the haze off, mask around the area well, ensure no polish left on, and give a couple of coats with a UV laquer. Should last a while. :)

As above. Exactly what I done on my w220.
You start with a more abrasive then finer wet dry. You see the yellow just pour off. It looks terrible but once you get the uv clear coat on it looks amazing.

Any recommendations for a good UV clear coat. The stuff that came with the 3M kit doesn't say it is UV and doesn't last long. It is then a pain to get off when I start rubbing down again.

One of the companies I worked for recommended Vuplex, (blue tin with an orang lid) for use on my lenses.
It seems to work so far. Couple of years now. Keeps them nice and clean, no clouding over. Some sort of plastic polish.
Not sure if it provides UV protection.

I got a spray can off the bay and made sure it said uv resistant on the can.

The amount of work involved replacing the lenses once they’re off is similarly unpleasant too...

Thanks, that's what I was reckoning on as well
