I am buying a new PSE vacuum pump but have read on this forum that it will need to be coded to the car. How is this done, does it need to be done by a MB dealer or can my local garage do it.

Im pretty sure they are plug and play. It may need to be told some variant coding for country specific items, but it should fire up as soon as its connected and working.

W220 PSE pump is not p'n'p... but it is because so many different options, not sure how much variations W230 has

I've fitted 3 PSE pumps to SL's in the last month and every one of them fired up the CL and roof the moment they were plugged in.

ok, CL may have more 'standardized' options, good that at least something is easy...

I think you have to program lumber support, everything else will work.

As Star said there is a guy in the US, who couldnt get Lumbar pads to pump up. OK on an S Class so might not be relevant.
Finally bought a new pump, and it still wouldnt work the Lumbar supports. He found it needed Star to configure the pump. He said they found it saying “not present” they changed it to “present” and it all worked perfectly.

Just for feedback, I fitted a new PSE pump and everything worked p,n,p, except for the lumbar support which star and submariner indicated was correct, I will live without the lumbar support until I get it serviced again.

Hi sir was hoping for some advise on my 2005 sl. Remote looks not working fuse is not blow or blowing in rear seat. When trunk lid is open lite at trunk switch is on but when trunk is closed lite foes off. I get get close trunk portion when I try to open top. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

Pse pump is probably full of water or the ocb is damaged, boot seperator is wired into the pse pump.
