Is there any point in a 2 bucket wash if you do a long pre-clean?

in context : if one is just rinsing off the surface dirt with a karcher and then washing with a Mitt I would say 2 bucket method is essential.
Note car kept outside, 3,000 miles per annum so fairly clean.

But re my temporary regime to avoid lifting etc. Post back op. :-
1. Power wash with an Industrial Karcher 690L per hour for 30 minutes
2. snow foam thick blanket ... wait 5 mins
3. Long power wash completely off say 30 mins

4. Then lightly wash with AG body shampoo applied by snow foam gun using microfibre noodle mitt .. i.e. just the weight of the noodles
5. Quick power wash off say 10 mins
6. Then wash with a bucket and autoglyms shampoo using Wool Mitt properly. Obviously squooshing out the wool mitt each swipe, and not going near the bottom of the bucket.

On the last 2 activities there appears to be no difference in quality of soapy water in either bucket ...
So would you agree there is no point in using 2 buckets and rinsing the mitt in fresh water between each swipe?

My thoughts
Until the back is totally healed circa 4-6 weeks more ... hey its good enough my back is far more valuable than the odd swirl.

But once fully healed I cant see the point. But open to advice.

Just don't wash it for 4-6 weeks. That's the least risky option.

Just step 1 and 3 are going to use over 150 gallons!
Total is probably over 200 gallons of water just to wash a car?

I'd put it through a car wash, I'd be putting my health first. Also if you want environmental benefits if you chose the right one they recycle 85% of the water so use only 20 - 80 ltrs per car depending upon the program. I wouldn't go for the unlicensed hand car wash as they don't always pay, tax, water rates, or insurance...

Subs car washing threads just get crazier each time. To recap, a car that hardly gets used is washed to within an micron of its metal destroying the environment along with it :D

When I jetwash my car there isn’t enough runoff to reach the drain 5m away.

If you clean your car as much as you say then it becomes easier due to the protection on the paint. I’m not too fastidious but after a clean, clay, polish and wax I found my car basically keeps itself clean. A quick snowfoam, rinse off, dry and either some Sonax or BH double speed and I’m done.

For 6 weeks I wouldn’t worry. My S203 had been outside for best part of a year when I bought it. It took about six washes to remove all traces of algae. The paint came up as new after the above treatment.

Leaving snow foam in for 30 minutes would be bad news, some will set!

Now that i have washed, clayed, polished and protected the SL I can clean and dry it in about 30 minutes and use minimal water.

A mate of mine was involved in a multi-agency 'raid' on a car wash. The 'bod' from the Environment Agency remarked that they'd like to lift the covers in the roadway to check the run-off into the sewers but would have to apply to the Highways Authority to restrict road usage in order to do so. (Road signs and barriers).

My mate asks, "How long will it take to check that?" Back came the reply, "About 30 minutes."

My mate [I trained him well;)] puts his liveried car with blue strobes across the lane and the covers were lifted.

Job done.:)

Me - I'm a heathen.

I just hose it down a couple of times a month. Maybe a wax before each winter.
It always looks good, and the paint doesn't seem to deteriorate.

Mostly I just drive it. It's a car, not an object of worship!

Is this a joke?
150+ gallons of water to clean a car!
I hope you are on a meter and paying for this excessive use.
