C350e 2015
My 2015 C350e recently bought from a dealer keeps on flashing up an orange malfunction message in the central section of the instrument cluster. It has the word "malfunction" and a symbol or two gearwheels - see picture. It lasts from a few seconds to a minute or two when I am driving. The SatNav, radio etc. still work, and the speed sign detector displays the speed limit over it. No working in function eco and comfort!
I was From Mercedes Heathrow but they tell my need 3 day from check!!

hybrid batteries deplete with time, even if used and charged in ideal circumstances
fast charging will wear it out much more quickly
a prius battery was circa 7k and might last 7 years if well looked after and nothing unfortunate happens
the small info I have seen here on Merc electric ones doesn't read well
car manufactures always find away to get your money (its just how and when that will surprise you)

Yes it’s got to go back to the dealer because anything hybrid/electric is so complicated. Sadly, even they probably haven’t got a clue so make sure you get a decent loan car for however long it takes them to sort it out.

A friend of mine was asking me if I knew anything about the C350e as he covers a lot of miles a year, I just advised him of the issues that some of you had found with this model, in the end he opted for the 335d. Maybe in a while they will be more of a sound investment.

My 2018 C350E with 20K miles has just developed the same "Mal Function" warning. Once triggered, it won't go back to Electric, E Charge cannot be engaged and the transition from electric to petrol motor is harsh to say the least. I have also had a total power failure with every warning light coming on and the car cruising to a halt. Switching off and back on again cleared the fault but the Mal Function warning still displayed. It's going into a MB main dealer for a second time as the Tech's couldn't find any traceable fault first time round.

Thx - problem turned out to be a faulty Starter Motor which thankfully was replaced under warranty

I am having the exact same issue as you, unfortunately, my car is 2016 and is out of warranty.

I have an appointment booked with them at the end of this month, I hope they can diagnose the problem even as some people have had the same issues as us but changing the starter motor hasn't done anything for them.

My neighbor has the same issue, there are so many people with this issue, shouldn't this be something that Mercedes should cover? It looks like it's a very common fault.

They have quoted me £120 for initial investigation :(.

I have the same issue, I paid for a TIP to be applied to the Battery Control Module as software was out of date (XENTRY showed error on this module too) and it did not sort out the issue. has anyone sorted out this issue, car is going to need to be booked back in for further investigation. seems to be an issue and have found numerous people with the same issue but no confirmed resolutions.

my car drives perfect on fuel, perfect on electric but as soon as the transition from Electric to Fuel happens i get the malfunction error and STOP/START and EMODE is disabled.

car charges perfect whilst driving and plugged in.

any one know where this module is situated and where the 12v is situated?

Thanks
