Hi everyone, hope if someone has (I think!) this same problem, when I hold the sunroof button to tilt up the glass, at first it opens obout 4cms and immediately after closes to two cms, in other words, it does not maintain fully open. If I want to open it completely (tilt in the back) I have give several short touches to the control button. This is happening only when I try to open tilt the sunroof, opening it all back woks very well. I do not know if this a normal operation or is this an issue, could someone help me with this? thanks to all, best regards.

May need a reset Bernardo
I’m trying to remember the procedure for your model ...
I think it’s close all doors and windows, key to pos 2, open sunroof fully and hold the button even though fully open until you hear a click...
This is stretching my memory from when I had this model about 8 or so years ago!hope that helps

Well I did what John told me, "close all doors and windows, key to pos 2, open sunroof fully and hold the button even though fully open until you hear a click...", but nothing happen. When the ruf was totaly opene, I kept the button pushed for almos a minute, then I release it and push it back again, holding it for a minute, Well, for some reason this procedure does not work with this car. But I appreciate John's recomendation.

Damn! As Steve says then maybe it needs a software update via Star Xentry.. do you have an independent specialist nearby ?

Its not easy to find an independent specialist here that has the software and interface computer , but I will try finding it. I could also go to the MB dealer here in Bogotà and ask how much does it cost for updating the car software, and to make a skaning procedure to verify options. Thanks John.

Well, finally I took the car to the MB specialist ((Dealer) last week and ask them to verify the software release that was actually instaled in the car, and told them about the sun roof problem. After verifying with their computer (via obdc) they told me that the car had a 2.something release and that it was an old version, that they would update it to release 3.someting. After that, they made the necessary adjustements and voila, sunroof now works as it should. The strange part is that the car had its A and B maintenance last April and for some reason, why did "they" not updated the cars software in that moment? As always, hi cost, regular maintenance and support. Is it any way to find out what software version is actually installed in the car? Is ther any way to find out? or is it only via Star Xentry? Thank you all!

who knew that a simple sunroof would ever require a software upgrade .....

or is it a not so simple sunroof? ;);)

it only has the option of tilting up or sliding back ..... how hard can it be? It's not as though it needs to remember a half way point or have an anti-trap (assuming the OP's roof is the same as mine) on the close. The roof on my Omega opened via a dial, you turned it & let go, unlike my roof where you need to keep a finger on the close switch and if it came across an obstruction it opened again .... like your windows.

You have to think of all control panels as mini hard drives now. How many updates does your phone or computer take? Loads because tech is constantly changing. Cars are no different now.

Thats why most garages are being caught out by replacing components and it not fixing the fault they hoped it would, because the software controlling it has a glitch and its the software that needs changing/updating.

but the requirements of a sunroof remain the same .... open fully or open tilt ;)

Yes, to a point, but it uses hall sensor by wire systems now instead of a normal motor. If the OCP can't see the hall sensor or it loses its adaptation then it won't open or close.

Er, a danger of hijack but similar I'm having issue with the side doors on the Viano, to the point where the n/s now refuses to recognise it's closed so none of the rear doors will lock. No amount of adjustment of the door makes a diiference.

Is this a software issue perhaps?

Usually the door contacts, the 5 pin switch and the pick up plate fail on these, only did a set today! I think the parts are about £15. If not you will have to check the actual values of the door closing motor.

I replaced the contact plates, but not the pins, at the beginning of the year as this problem has been a pain for a while.

I was anticipating removing the locking mechanism to look for gunge that might be causing a reluctant lever onto micro switch, or iffy switch??

This morning both plates and pins removed and continuity through them checked out ok. I'm confident they're ok.
iCarsoft reports that the n/s still shows open in the closed position, o/s shows closed as expected.
Both show locking pawl operated, and they change state when open, as expected.
I would have though the locking pawl micro switch would be enough for a 'closed' signal, but as it's seeing that then clearly not.

Seems to me a closed circuit is remaining open circuit on the n/s, I'm seeing if I can identify if that's within the locking mechanism of the door or a possible wiring fault.
