New throttle pedal, £30 on the 'Bay and 5 mins to swap out I'd guess! I had the same 2 years ago.
Wouldn’t it have been a throttle position sensor Craig, or body rather than the pedal itself?

TPS only confirms the throttle body has obeyed the command to open.
The pedal itself sounds more likely.
Peter, you are correct in surmising it's fly by wire. It's interesting to see the evolution of this. The 129 uses a cable to the throttle body which has electronics to disable the command for ASR purposes, the 210 has a cable that goes from the pedal to a potentiometer under the bonnet which then talks to the ECU which tells the throttle to open and the 230 has an electronic throttle pedal.

Sorry I should explain. TPS indeed yes, but in the 220/ 215/ 230 the TPS is integrated into the pedal assy and overmoulded within it, so cannot be changed separately.

Many cars have a mechanical pedal with the TPS bolted onto the side of it, and a mechanical bearing arm poking out to interface with the pedal.

Ah ok you're talking about that one.
There is another TPS inside the throttle body which tells the ECU how far open the throttle is. Yes the one you're talking about is integrated into the pedal. The other is often (not always) integrated into the throttle body.
A common fault in Volvos used to be throttle body failure caused by steel wiper arms attached to the throttle spindle wearing away the carbon tracks that told the ECU how far open the throttle was (essentially a very poor design). When it happened on them the throttle body would shutdown to 20% open and engine speed controlled by selectively cutting fuel to injectors. Very scary when it happened mid overtake.

I think I can eliminate the throttle body as I did buy a new one some time ago when it did the same thing.
Pretty sure it is what Craig mentioned.
On a brighter note I can sell my newish/tested throttle body.........Might also sell my SLK32 throttle body too, help pay for a new accelerator pedal.....

Yep won't be the TB one as that confirms it's open. You're not getting it to open so the instruction to do so isn't getting there.

The steel arms IIRC had quite sharp tips, and they ended up scouring the carbon trace off the mylar sheet the trace was printed onto. The good news is that designers have pretty much solved that problem nowadays, and some modules (remember, there aren't that many different types out there when you boil it down) have retrofixes available too.

That's exactly what happened. I pulled mine apart and sent the photos to Volvo showing them what the problem was and told them the easy way to fix it. The next generation ones didn't have an issue.
Latest repairs for them use an optical kit.

Drove it down to the Dorset coast for a lovely walk in the sunshine and a fish and chip lunch by the beach. Quite a swift drive through the New Forest on the A35 behind a group of cars all doing a steady 60mph or thereabouts! Mostly the promenade was sheltered from the northerly wind so very pleasant in the sunshine.

But don’t you find that someone parks right next to you? I always do.
