we all do our own thing, i like to keep my cars tidy and i dont like washing mud, salt spray and crxp out of my wheel arches, i have a car for that. i keep my sl out of that i very much enjoy it in good weather, but we are not in calafornia so i have to adapt to the situation here. i take a number of precautions related to having the car parked for long periods and know there can be downsides if unlucky or NOT careful
Mine is used as a daily driver, I only do around 8000 miles per year but have a detailer wash it weekly to keep the salt off and car looking spic & span, this way the car doesn't need storage treatment and I get to enjoy it regularly. This still costs a lot less than hiring a barn for storage or trying to run a vintage super car for a few months a year...

If it has HiDs there is s small lever inside the housing next to the bulb. Flip it to the other position and it moves a shutter internally to make the stepped low beam flat.
Very hard to see and even harder to find by touch.
They're also quite fragile, drivers side is easier to feel than passenger side so got for that one first.

I lied about only coveting one V8 sound, a guy up the road has a BMW E92 I think it is, 58 plate, M3 with an an AC Schnitzer exhaust system on it and that howls!

Sadly a second car isn't an option, you can pick up something cheap enough but with only one garage and double yellow lines outside I have nowhere to put it. I do however keep the worst of the crud off by having a little twist'n'go scooter I keep in my back garden and use for the daily hack to work and back. I have just enough room in the garage for my proper bike and the car to keep them clean.

Well gents, many thanks for all the advice, as a result I was able to confirm that a very pretty, blue 350 has an engine number seriously to the wrong side of the balance shaft fix.
Yes, it may have been done, but, it was a long way to go to risk discovering there is no paperwork.

However, the good news is, I am the owner of an SL500

All round nice car
Got a bit knocked off the price and a fair PX for my Boxster

Again, thank you all for your time and advice

If I know your approx whereabouts I will keep my eyes peeled, I don't think it's too careless of me to say that I'm in Chelmsford

John

Between there and Maldon buddy :D

Close then
I went to Max Bradley, out on the road between Danbury and Maldon (almost opposite Lion Seeds) to look at an SL, but, not right.

Question
Do the SL owners organise runs, rallies, pub visits etc?
I'm thinking of doing the solstice run (Lands End to Ness Point) this year, anyone else thought of giving it a go?
Did it last year in the Boxster with No1 son, a good couple of days (and nights)

That's useful, thanks
I used to take my TR6 to Cive Manvers at Elmswell, which is only about 8 miles or so from Stowmarket.
Really knowledgable guy, who keeled over in his workshop . . . Massive heart attack aged 57
