Got the first opportunity to take the car on a long journey - Portsmouth to Glasgow for the C2C music festival. I have to say, even doing it non-stop, the car delivered me in a very comfortable and relaxed state. And the fuel figures certainly seemed impressive. :)

Which engine is that? The beat I ever had out my W212 estate (E250 cdi) was 62.7 mpg on a run from B'ham to Cumbria, it was helped, however, by a few stretches of 50 mph speed limits through roadwork's on the M6.

Our S212 E350CDI just managed mid 40's once, being driven very gently. But these estates must weigh a bit more than your Coupe...

About 200kg as the E coupe is actually a C Class chassis

I get mid 40’s on my rush hour commute from home to Birmingham, I don’t drive miss daisy either, the engine is wonderful for long distances

It's the 264hp version of the 350 CDi from 2013 (some clever bugger will know the exact model no.).

Ours actually seems to be using a little bit more fuel since the remap. Goes though...

That is just because you use the loud pedal more

This is my best in Germany about 4 years ago, on a very warm day. Drove from Munich to Bad Mergentheim, two thirds autobahn & one third A roads. My car is a 2011 E350CDI, with the OM642 engine.View media item 3014

This was my previous E350CDI Coupe one day on a run down through France last summer. I had never achieved over 50mpg before and will never see it again. At the moment, I get excited when I get near to 30mpg on the GLC o_O

Not really surprised with the GLC 44. The 350CDI is a very economic engine, I get 48MPG over the year. Unlike my wife"s SLK200K, we struggle to get 33MPG out of that.

Our 350CDI has never, ever been that parsimonious. 46 on a really, really gentle drive is the best. Long term displayed average over 20,000 miles is 32mpg - which includes a fair bit of local running around plus three or four caravan trips a year.

Maybe the 2011 (264bhp) ones were more economical?

Not really, I get a long term of about 32mpg.

I’m averaging pretty much the same with a V6 petrol 3ltr... :D
:) I'm sure if I commuted it would be a lot better. I bought this car last year on the basis that I was supposed to be in the road a lot more, didn't happen. Never mind.

Ah, but I am guessing that your 3ltr petrol is not in a 2 tonne estate car?

No it's in 1,495 kg SLK so giving away 300kg to a W204 estate
And doesn't live in the cotswolds with lots of hills and stop start traffic :D
No, 750' up a hill in West Yorkshire :p
