I agree with you, I’d have been very happy with that 600 indeed...(maybe I can get it cheap now ? )Great episode it was! The only thing always at the back of my mind (call me boring if you will) is that they're 'wrecking' a now modern classic (the 600) of which not too many remain I would think! The 600 peed all over the other two mind, very quick indeed and looked mean in the rally livery! The new future presenting team - not sure how I feel about that, we shall see!

I too get quite upset when Top Gear and their ilk destroy cars. It seems a pointless waste to me and I don't find it entertaining. Even rolling the tuk-tuk down the hill the other week was stupid.Great episode it was! Likewise the destruction just for the sake of it upsets me, having said that the Top Gear episode didn't have that much of that. The cars were damaged by on track incidents and mechanical failures so I didn't have the same feelings about it. When Jezza and Hamster ued to destroy for fun, I was very much with James May in that all they can do is destroy things, they can't "fix" anything.I too get quite upset when Top Gear and their ilk destroy cars. I would happily watch Chris Harris videos on YouTube all day...
Mind you, I remember a James May program where he took a Renault 4 on to a firing range blasted it to bits with a heavy calibre gun. I lost the respect I had carried for him since he wrote in 'Car' back in the 80's at that moment. When Jezza and Hamster ued to destroy for fun, I was very much with James May in that all they can do is destroy things, they can't "fix" anything.

Some of these cars probably don't have much life in them anyway, there is no way most people are buying these with this money and spending £1000,s keeping them tip top. A mate of mine would buy half decent looking cars and spend nothing on them, and after 1-2 years get rid. Especially if a super charger goes on a £6k car.I watched Grand Tour where they'd to buy a Jaaag for under £6000. Clarkson bought a supercharged XJR, May bought a XJ8 and Hammond turned up with a pretty decent 420G ('face lifted' MK10) Hammond then took the car around a track & virtually destroyed it ..... a crying shame for what was once Britain's widest production car.
That's true of the XJ6 & XK8 but not the MK10 though I do realise that a 40 yr old Jag will have plenty of rot beneath the surface. Some of these cars probably don't have much life in them anyway, there is no way most people are buying these with this money and spending £1000,s keeping them tip top. Also, weren't they in USA for that episode? .....
Let's be honest, nobody in their right mind is going to miss a Renault let alone a Renault 4.Mind you, I remember a James May program where he took a Renault 4 on to a firing range blasted it to bits with a heavy calibre gun. Hmm... I can understand your view, but I have an (irrational) soft spot for old French cars!Let's be honest, nobody in their right mind is going to miss a Renault let alone a Renault 4.
