Truck one used to work fine on my W213

Where was the AdBlu filler? Next to the diseasel, or in the boot?

My W221 had the boot floor mounted tank that the pump at a truck stop wouldn't flow constantly, the Shell pump worked properly.

Thought it might be useful to illustrate the varicous menus available to establish the AdBlu level if you have them. Also the AdBlu filler on a 2017 MY GLE which is pretty common on BluTec Mercs.

Mine has the Adblue tank in the boot and no reference to Adblue in the menu, I just have the Tryre Pressure and ASSYST Plus options.

I did say 'if you have them'.

My previous W221 had the AdBlu tank in the boot, the only message I got was 'Do NOT start, AdBlu low visit service centre' or words to that effect. From the 1 incident of the dealers not filling on a service, I learned that the AdBlu went approx 21k miles before requiring filling. Thereafter I filled it once prior to a service to save the extortionate cost of a dealer for something I could easily do myself.

It seems from my mileage and AdBlu quantity on last service on this MY 2017 W166 the range is similar to the W221.

My previous W211s x2 had oil level sensors, no dipstick. My W221 had a dipstick as does my current W166. It pays to rtfm and have a play with the car to understand wot is wot :eek::rolleyes:

Apologies if you thought my comment was in any way argumentative, I was merely pointing out that even with Adblue, some cars don't have any way to check the level. As you say, all I get is a message when it's running low.

Not being picky but ……. on your photo, just over half full is good for 3800miles, so full would be good for 7000ish miles??

This accords well with my GLE 350d, where the addition of a full 10 litres of AdBlu showed 5/8 full and 4400 miles. Must be a hell of a big tank!!

My son’s 16 plate 213 E220d Adblue tank holds about 22 litres as far as I’m aware and has just needed topping up at 12k miles since last service which would equate to a consumption of under 2 litres per 1k miles
