Fuel consumption display

The fuel consumption display on my My E250 W212 shows a maximum available reading of 40mpg. However I'm sure that I saw a video clip here of someone whose display went up to 80MPG and that it was a MPH not kMH dash.

Regardless of my last comment why would MB limit the display max. to only 40MPG?
