I was thinking about this today and was interested in people’s thoughts.
Has anyone noticed a difference in the way their car drives after a service ? I can say I haven’t really.
I’m not talking about repairs, just routine servicing.

Certainly feels it , I've got a run up to Wales on the weekend , so a 600 mile round trip will give it a good workout :D

Excellent, I’m getting mine done at the end of the month.

Main dealer services by Audi-VW-MB over the last 12 Years and the only changes I have ever noticed have been a valet service, whether the car needed it or not and usually too much engine oil filled to over the maximum marker, MB did exactly this in March this Year.

This has been my experience also, main dealer servicing is expensive, it would be nice to say Wow that feels better.

It would be nice but the downside to that of course would be that the state of whatever was perceived as improved, whether it be the acceleration, road noise, auto performance, ride etc, etc must have been pretty ropey before the service to notice an improvement? I think that manufacturers service schedules have been designed to maintain optimum performance and not to allow it to diminish and bring it back up to scratch. I believe I'd be more concerned if I did notice a marked improvement in something and want to know why?

Oil pressure at hot idle always lower with fresh oil which probably leads me to ask on here if its normal/acceptable and monitor it.

5% improvement in mpg with air filter (could be because i subconsciously drive easier) but still saves me money and fuel either way and pays for filter in a month.

I also like the car more for a month as i do it myself i feel happy ive done it and more interested to use it. Also realise how lost id be aervicing something more modern.

I find when servicing a car I have just bought then nine times out of ten the air filters and fuel filter are old and scrap , when these are changed it’s such a difference, but if it’s a car I own and keep well serviced regardless of it needing it or not ,
I see no difference after servicing.
So I guess if you see no difference after a good full service then the chances are it been well maintained
which is s good thing.

Why should you feel much of a difference the car is being maintained not fixed ?

If you notice significant differences then perhaps something has been left too long.

Exactly but you want to see the state of some of the air filters I have changed in cars with supposed full service history from main dealers
You wouldn’t believe the state they have been in. These are out of full service history v6 cdi B9330EBD-5953-4F37-827E-F7703D9208C8.jpeg 97629BF8-88E0-43A6-A491-07DDB9CCEC79.jpeg

That's cos the change intervals are ridiculously long. I change air filters every 10k.

In my experience of doing this for a living for the last 28 years, the biggest noticeable difference comes from pumping the tyres up to the manufacturers recommended, rather than the 15psi that most people seem to run around with them at. I am sure a lot of my customers don't remove the valve caps between services...

Aah but do you mean a full service history or a full service history,
seemingly identical but in fact very different, often depending on who is paying.
I have had an "oil filter polish" from MB.
