Hello everyone, I am having problems with my e350 w207 Led intelligent headlights.
Problem started a months ago, once I start car sometimes after few minutes I get message on dash that intelligent system inoperative and left side day time running led not working, right side works fine, I used to switch ignition off and then start again and all was good.
But now as soon as I start vehicle day time running light not working, same left side indicator, and then right hand side headlight main beam and high beam do not work but indicator and day time running light works fine.
Any Ideas?
Diagnostic shows left side lamp low voltage
Right side headlight there is a open circuit.
I've checked all plugs all good, took headlight off there is no cut wires or bad connector. 20190331_125929.jpg 20190331_175948.jpg 20190331_175937.jpg 20190331_125929.jpg 20190331_175948.jpg 20190331_175937.jpg 20190331_125929.jpg

Hard to say with that code definition, Xentry would give further diag steps, eg wiring/pinouts.

I wouldnt say front sam, I would say that code is referring to the light cluster itself, but I would spend a bit on a MB Indy with Xentry before spending money on an expensive light module.

I don't think it is lights cluster as on both lights some functions not working. If it would be just one headlight then I would be thinking it light itself.

iam only getting 3.8v voltage output on left headlight
Also before headlights was not working property just sometimes when I check voltage on same headlight it was jumping from 10v to 11v when it should be around 12v.
Now it it is 3.8 always

fully expect like the other one a few days ago, its DTF coming in to play

I'd be looking out for one of the big reman sites to be offering a repair service soon enough, at 2 to 3k for a side light bulb it won't be long

Headlights fixed, ive been in Mercedes independent specialist they couldn't find what wrong but offer me change whole headlight or Sam module they give 51% of faulty headlight and 49% of faulty Sam module and also advice to check prefuse box.
I've order all parts and spend lots of £
Swap prefuse box nothing changed, then booked for Sam module swap and coding in 2 weeks time. But I've went in another Mercedes service and they was replacing airbags for same e class Mercedes, I spot 3 fuses near headlights switch, went to check mine , and yes mine was tosted. Changed to new one all good now.
I've checked all fuses in both Sam modules also profuse box but never seen on any manual book or anywhere that there is few fuses near light switch.
Even Mercedes specialist couldn't find that simple fuse fault...

Loads of MB have fuses there and they are normally related to the lights. Glad you got it sorted

“DesignTo Fail” doesn’t exist in this context. We have been around this buoy many times now.

well.in this case a guy less persistent might have been looking at a grand + for headlight and related when all he needed was a FUSE in a seemingly, unpublished place !! he DID go to a specialist ,however its just NUTS that one could be in a position of having to go to a specialist to resolve a FUSE issue...if it related to safety issues (lights ) the location needs to be in the handbook. HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING HERE ?? remains to "understand why fuse got "toasted " in first place ....

There is a dedicated Fuse Box and circuit allocation chart provided in my original documentation folder, I can only presume that so many have just gone missing over the Years?

If only the fuse legend was moulded into the back of the fuse box lid instead of on a separate piece of paper .... ;)

You mean like they used to be :) the cynic in me tells me MB have done it this way for a reason or maybe the Teutonic mindset is a little more organised and responsible than the typical Briton, I wonder how the French are getting on with their bits of paper

being cynical...

isn't this the failure mode all new technology uses.. where the dealer says light unit and rather fortunately guaranteeing the garage gets a healthy supply of spares to fit to their approved used cars that might be "too" impacted by DTF (which on new tech is still under development to guarantee failures only occur after the 6 year legislation period)

all beautifully covered by customer contributions so merc and dealership can make proper profits ?

i am wondering if the fuses in question ,regards the OP origional post were/are listed on this sheet ,if so ,difficult to blame maker. tho i must add ,there are cases where fuses listed on MB leaflet are NOT covering/protecting the function mentioned in the leaflet .as i have just found out when fitting my "dedicated " and damn fiddly to install tow bar harness on my ML
