Hello,

Back when my rear suspension was leaking, my car dropped down onto pavement/curbing.

At the time I hadn't realised this and later on I proceeded to drive off and nearly pulled the entire bumper off.. lucky for me I was quick on the brakes.

Anyway, on the following pictures you will see the slight damage that was caused. It's not massive and can live with it, but it absolutely bugs me out, and you can be sure I notice it every time I look at the car.

I'm wondering how I could go about fixing that. It basically needs to be pulled in? I wondering is there something I can attach to the rear side and then kind of ratchet tight to pull over in the exposed piece?

What do people think I could do? A totally DIY job is all I have in mind.

Is that bit plastic? You could try a bit of heat, and see if you can manipulate back to correct position.

Yes, I would try a bit of heat (hairdryer) and a bit of bending back.

Do you mean that bit beside the exhaust, to the right of it? Yes as Alexanderfoti say's, heat the area and push it gently back...a little further that it need's to go, and it will spring back a bit, so you can judge just when it's aligned again.

Heat will probably do the trick, but I think you'll find that, with the mass of the plastic wicking heat away fast, a hairdryer will not be man enough for the job.

Try a heat gun - there will be plenty of heat with that.

Be careful though - a very experienced body shop man heated the oversills of my 968 (which are some kind of plastic). He knew what he was doing, as he did bodywork for top end rally cars, FIA GT1 Nissan Nismo GTR's and their Le Mans LMP1 car! He could not persuade the oversill completely into place as, in his words, he was worried that more heat could damage the paint. The end gap was quite small, so I got some really sticky black mastic, let it cure for 30 minutes then pushed the offending piece into place, it stuck, cleaned off the excess with white spirit, and 6 years later it's still OK.
