The new SL for 2021

Just read a piece on MBWorld about the 2021 SL, looks like the SL will become a 2+2 and will lose the metal roof in favour of cloth.

Can't see that personally they already have the S Class Convertibubble with a rag top so having the SL with the same is too close. The folding tin top is one of the best things about the SL and SLC

That article is also flawed in its statement that "for the first time in its history the SL will come as a 2+2".
Either my r129 is a poor Chinese copy or they've forgotten about the token rear seats in earlier models (I even have seatbelts in the rear).

Apparently the S class coupe and convertible production will end in 2020.

I saw that error too. Maybe what they mean is the new SL having usable rear seats.

Looking at the pics I'd be surprised if with that amount of shortening there was legroom. It also wouldn't make sense to do a proper 2+2 as it would compete with the E class cabriolet and S Class cabriolet. It would make far more sense (IMO) to retain the hard roof and limit it to 2 seats.
