Does key in pos 1 drain battery?

Not too interesting but i got a 2hr wait for a ferry and trying to charge my phone so may as well ask..To do that i need key in pos 1 (no ignition). If i turn radio off is that ok to leave a w124 with key in pos 1 for an hour or so. I assume the power hungry stuff comes on in position 2?

Why not charge your phone on the way to the ferry? It will drain in Pos 1, not that much but if your battery isn’t the best it could stop it starting...

This time it's a ferry Valencia to ibiza, so the journey to the ferry was only 10 minutes! And the boat was delayed but as I'd checked in when I found out I couldn't drive home again... Perhaps the guy in front of me was equally concerned as he just left his engine running for the whole 1h45 minutes! In the end it was charging for an hour and started OK after...

I'd never leave the key on in a Merc.... the rear battery even when brand new is dead in 30 mins on the 221

Yes.
Not that I make a habit of it but on numerous different cars on numerous occasions I have had the Ign on Acc, that be Pos 1, for hours with the Radio/CD Player on, (quite loud) whilst Washing/Polishing the car.... Never had a problem.

Buy a cell phone battery power pack. Energizer 2500mah are about £5, will recharge your cell phone twice without recharging.
