I have to change washer /indicator stalk on my c class coupe 1.8 compressor 2003. So have to disconnect battery first . Will this create issues after reconnecting ?, ie computer settings etc

I'd not bother with a battery disconnect .... just leave the key out/ignition off

Pull the relevant fuses as well for added measures in case you manage to wake it up.

That I'm afraid I cannot tell you, you will need the relevant Fuse Chart and wiring diagram for your vehicle model and Year.

Yes , should they be the fuses that cover what has to come out, ie the indicators , the air bags etc ?

The Fuses relevant to the part you are replacing....
Ok , I can do that , only I heard horror stories of cars not starting after battery has been disconnected and re connected back ..

Hi i recently changed my battery on my 270 clk and i used the 3 minute rule that i used on my citroen .Switch off ignition after opening bonnet. Wait 3 mins for system to power down then i disconnected battery. When i had reconnected new battery waited 3 mins then turned ignition on and started car .Had to reset windows by holding button up to limit hold 3 seconds then down and hold for 3 seconds on each window .Also had to reset clock and auto lock .apart from that all went ok .The 3 minute rule allows ecu to power down and the same when reconnecting letting it power up.This seems to apply to most modern cars regardless of make it stops electrical spike corrupting ecu data so i read.
Hope this helps.

The most dangerous thing you have to remove when doing this job is the airbag.
I would let a garage do this.
If you must, then I would

1. Disconnect the battery
2. Wait at least 1 hour before removing the airbag
3. Wear head protection
4. Wear eye protection
5. Wear ear protection
6. Lay down the airbag the correct way down

Thanks for this info , it makes good sense.

Sounds like I might let a garage do the job then

Not sure, but the airbag will definitely be in the way.
