Speaker - type, size, etc - from its part number?

I need to replace what sounds like a blown speaker - it's the one under the dash, in the middle, as fitted in W169 and W245, with power sound and some other options.

I do have a part number from EPC - A1698200402 - however, I have no idea what type of speaker it is, and would ideally like to replace it with a better quality one, than what was fitted originally by MB, with a view to eventually replace all the speakers, and the subwoofer.

I remember Morrell speakers been mentioned by Mark or Richard, but I have no other details that I can find in my files.

I don't have a separate amp, just the power sound option (532) - extra speakers and a sub.

Really don't want to open the dash up, just to get the dead speaker out, and would rather do a swap in one go ...

The centre speaker is accessed by prising up the mesh above it.

Its about 3.5cm and has offset mountings. The only upgraded one you can fit is the HK one which is marginally better than the standard one.

Thanks! I was hoping you might notice this thread :)

How much is the HK one (and the standard one, while we're at it)?

Thanks again.

PS I've already printed the relevant WIS pages, so it's just buying the right speaker now :)

Not much money at all. I think the standard one is about £25 and the Hk one about £45 from memory. some people actually remove the speaker altogether as its so cheap and nasty that it distorts the sound. My sons car has HK that I retrofitted and we removed it from his car.

You wouldn't happen to have it available for sale by any chance? ;) I'd be happy to take it off your hands, if you have no use for it - saves me hunting it down, and risking buying a wrong type ...

PS My address has changed, since I've been to Lightwater last time - PM me.
