Hi all,

I have mercedes c250 2014, last week engine management light appeared, took it to local mercedes specialist, they diagnosed it as dpf issue, they told me they will clean it , after 3 days had the car back, it was fine for couple days, after that the same light appeared again, this time they diagnosed it as EGR, later on they said its air flow meter, they changed the air flow meter , again same issue same light, now they are saying could be electric faults ,just wondering if anyone came across this kind of issues, any help greatly appreciated.

wondering ,which specialist ? would have thought correct code reader( star or similar ) would have provided more specific diagnosis of actual issue . and that dpf codes would NOT be much like egr or air flow. but i stand to be corrected .....

Apparently he is MB specialist,I absolutely have zilch knowledge about cars so whatever they says I go with them, computer showing airflow meter/sensor fault, the car accelerating is really poor, beside fuel consumption is shockingly bad, as I have mentioned they changed the air meter but still have the same issue.

if someone changed parts and that fault still exists after being cleared ? seems to me wiring/connections to/from that part may be suspect and possible no issue with part itself .what fault codes were ACTUALLY RECORDED if that info is not forthcoming its likely time you went somewhere where it is.

Who did you use already?

You’ve got a couple of choices but both are a little drive from Leicester, though they are people I would recommend personally

Okay you have Mercland over in Nuneaton or MB Centre in Nottingham, they’re both busy places but will look after you.

Hi there, I know this thread is a few months old, but I need some help here, been searching lots of forums and come up with nothing helpful, my w204 c250 CDI 2013 model, limp mode, engine light on, after scanning it comes up with air mass sensor.

So just for some history, 4 months or so ago, it did this, I sent it to a mechanic who told me I need to get an airflow meter, long story imported one and it took just over a month, changed it still the same. then he had the car with him for 2 weeks. Called me and said that it was fixed, collected it paid a small fortune, the car went perfectly fine for about 3 months.... then last week same problem. Now, this guy has moved his workshop and is nowhere near me anymore. He says I need to get it to someone local to repair at my cost.

I am in South Africa, Johannesburg specifically. I also got a guy that works for Mercedes that came with the Xentry unit which is what they use at the dealers and did all sorts of tests including the DPF regen and vacuum tests and boost leak test. Did not find anything except air mass sensor ground to earth if i am remembering correctly.

Really I am just tired of being messed around and lied to so I want to check as much as I can myself. I have worked on plenty of my own cars in the past so hopefully, I can DIY or diagnose this. apparently, he fixed the following, DPF regen and clean, EGR strip and clean, and then (Front Control SAM unit repairs). Now I opened in front where the SAM unit is and it does not look like it was ever opened.

Any advice / assistance would be very helpful.

Take your car to a reputable merc specialist and not some clown who will throw parts at it, till one fixes the issue all at your cost.

The issue was that the sensor needed calibrated. I guess they don’t come “set” and possibly differ for every engine management system (very slightly).
