Long post but could be useful for W208 owners!
So following on from my introduction post, which in summary said I bought a W Reg 2000, 99,000 mile, W208 CLK320 for a gumball rally in August. I have a throttle pedal issue it seems, where it’s going into limp mode and juddering. Such a shame as the car is ace otherwise.
I finally have found a reader that will scan codes so thought this may be useful for other w208 people. So first up, here’s what I bought and which worked, and which DIDN’T.
This car DOESN’T have a typical OBD port under the steering column. It’s a round 38 pin port near the air con unit under the bonnet. So you need a “38 pin to 16 pin OBD adapter”, £8 from amazon or eBay.
I bought a “Launch C Reader 319 OBD2 reader” from Amazon, £22. With the round adapter fitted, it does NOT work on this car. It shows the number of codes stores, but doesn’t tell you the code. Pointless.
I then bought a Streetwize OBD2 reader from Toolstation, £24. Looks cheapo but DOES work and will read codes just fine (needs the amazon adapter still). Very surprised.
So I have 10 errors stored as follows, the car is going to an Indy but they have a 3 week wait..
P0170 - Fuel trim bank 1.
P0173 - Fuel trim bank 2.
P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire detected.
P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire detected.
P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected.
P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected.
P0300 - Multiple cylinder misfire det.
P1542 - Manufacturer Control.
P0150 - O2 sensor circuit bank 2 sensor 1.
P0130 - O2 sensor circuit bank 1 sensor 1.
Am I right thinking P1542 is the pedal sensor inside the car, built into the pedal itself..?
The rest, god knows what they are?!
