I`m currently on 235/35`s all round but the rears need replacing. I was wondering if anyone knows how wide can you go on the rears? I`d like 255/265 if they would fit. Thanks.

That sounds very narrow for rear wheels. You need to know the width of the alloy.

I ran 275/35X18 and a 5mm spacer on the rear of a 2007 CLK with the original AMG wheels, though it does depend on what offset the wheels are.

Hi Guys, have to replace rear tyres this week, with the dimensions I have given can I have any advice on what I can achieve? Currently on 235/35/19 but I`m hoping to buy 255/35, anyone tried this?

Thanks, Mickey

Have you got 8.5j all round Mickey?

Here is a 19" CLK alloy with the correct size tyres front and rear. They are staggered rims though with 8.5j front and 9.5j rears.
Scroll down the page and you can see the suggested tyre sizes

255's are fine on a 9.5j alloy but I don't know about an 8.5j

Try entering your existing set up into this configurator, then what you want to use and see if its possible.

Your tyre sizes are all wrong, my CLK on 17" rears was on 245/40x17, how have you ended up with 19" at only 235?

Maximum for an 8.5" rim is 255 but 245 is optimal.
Whatever you fit must match the overall diameter of what you remove. If it doesn't you'll have issues with ABS, ESP and cruise.

If you currently have 235/35 then 255/30 is as close as you can get (1.8% smaller overall).

You cannot fit 255/35.
The difference in diameter front to rear will cause issues with ABS, ESP and cruise.
The closest you can get is 255/30 19.

Do we even know what size is on the front? Or the width of front/back rims?

Correct, 255/30 is the right size

A 255 will fit on an 8.5" wide rim, that is the max width for that size wheel

Yes in his original post he tells us. 235/35 all round and the title says 8.5" rims.

Not how I read it, only says rears on original post, no mention of whats on the front. Certainly doesn't say all round anywhere.
