Hello members,

Had this stunning C250 CDI in for Stage 1 remapping.

The customer had previously had this mapped by another firm and it made no extra power but can see from the stock plot the car was fighting it every step of the way!

Running the Delphi platform which we have access to the management via OBD with a real READ not Virtual and WRITE.

Vehicles all passed our pre checks and we got to work. After monitoring everything once back to stock the vehicle was good to go for us to get cracking and you can see how much we smoothed everything out.

After many runs, logs and sweep tests with multiple tweaks to the software we gained as follows....

+43bhp and +78nm

Below are shots, plots and runs.

Many thanks

I assume, from that, it was either a torque limiter left in place, or secondary turbo too agressive?

Am I reading this correctly ?

Car was down .
( I'll quote Flywheel figures ) .

Std C250 CDI is supposed to be 204HP & 500Nm , result is 223.7HP & 514.6Nm ?

You are reading this correctly we rarely see these make stock power or torque on our dyno

Many thanks

GAD, I believe Gaz is sayign that the numbers provided by Road-rage performance are a bit out there, compared to your dyno, which appears to be more accurate.

GAD are to be recommended for the truth and realistic dyno .

An example of 'marketing' remapping lies .

This is a 167 bhp E220 OM651 , 250 chart isn't available .

Mercedes_Benz_C_Class_W204_C220_CDI_BlueEFF_2143_cc_2009On_167_bhp_Stage_1___212_bhp__355_lbft.jpg

Now this 167 bhp , 295 ftlb motor puts out on this dyno 189.5HP and 322 ftlb so it's too generous and so will the result be.

214.7 HP & 362.7 ftlb so a gain of 25.2 bhp and 40.7 ftlb .

But this isn't the increase being claimed as they are starting from the factory lower figures .

Very , very , naughty .

difficult to believe that hp/lb/ft increases dont have at least the possibility of undesirable side effects.? reliability, longevity,as its unusual to get one thing without the other why do the makers leave the performance at the lower levels? i would love ,more power more lb/ft but am wary of the old " if it seems to good to be true,it probably is ". at least in the medium to long term . i am interested in being corrected here.

You are correct to an extent, there is likelihood of additional wear and potential damage after remapping a car but that’s really only going to be down to poor maintenance before and after, a good map should by design help make the car a nicer drive by added performance and optimising for our conditions and fuel. Manufactures maps have to cover the globe and massive variations so play it very safe in what can be got from an engine.

As an example, my previous E270 was mapped and a few other bits done to it and it ran happily like that for over 100k miles, I know it’s still running around now with no engine problems or gearbox issues.

I think your being a bit harsh on Celtic there, they are well respected in the tuning area and okay their advertising leaves a little to the imagination (slightly misleading but not flat out lying)

understood, and i buy into the makers playing it safe. as far as i know whilst a basic engine may be a global fit ,there are often a number of makers mods ref ,cooling, heating ,tolerance of inferior fuels, exhaust systems ect .to allow for the territory that the vehicle is marketed in .

Good point on all of those, and likely correct in oat, but manufacturers won’t have maps for multiple locations, possible 2-3 in total for different regions but even then I’m not sure.
