Hi to everyone , Im new to the forum and new to Mercedes. Just recently bought a 2010 E350 Cdi with 69000 miles on the clock and I love it. (Great combo, Blue with cream interior).

What I've noticed is every morning when i start the car cold the rpm goes up and down for 5mins and it feels the car is slightly shaking. Once it gets warm i slightly depress the accelerator and bring the rpm up few times and the car goes to normal and rpm stable. Once it gets to normal temp the car is great. It puts a smile on my face every-time I drive it ! What ive also noticed its a strange smell sometimes around the car when i stop.

Can all of the above be related to the DPF ? Maybe a bad glow plug ? ( Ive just had a B service 2 weeks ago )

If anyone has any suggestions , let me know, but ill be booking a scan soon to check for any error codes.

Thank you all in advance ! 62386242_2340146162941240_8968376920798396416_n.jpg 62203081_686153248505231_4493451611787493376_n.jpg 62203577_2220185458076718_8098386717528031232_n.jpg 61957921_482150182529850_3799811872337690624_n.jpg

gorgeous car pal but was it purchased from a trader ??

Thank you, Ive bought it 3 weeks ago from a dealer , but the car was absolutely brilliant the first week. It has 3 months comprehensive warranty , but not sure what it covers and if I can get it back to them to sort the issue out

ok you get 3 months full coverage under the consumers act of 2015 , repair , replace or refund , so take it back to where you bought it

Was the rough idle when the engine is cold there before the B service? If the air filters have been replaced you may have a slight air leak which would create a weak mixture so worth checking the plumbing is all correct and any electrical connections secure. The hot smell is the DPF regenerating this happens every 300/400 miles if used for a lot of short runs.

I’ve just had a B service done on my 350cdi which included renewing the air filters and it’s quite noticeable that the engine runs a little lumpy on cold start-up for a week or so until the car’s sensors adjust to the improved airflow, just done a 130 mile run and everything is now back to normal with a nice smooth tickover

Malcolm , It was there but not noticeable. Ill double check the air filters. Ive also done a 500miles trip to North of Wales and Back and problem is still present.

I have purchased the same car and year, it’s been great for 4 weeks, not used the car for a week and today on starting, lumpy and slight shake, only for a few seconds, hope it’s nothing serious, will get it checked under the warranty, Wynns Diesel Cleaner has been recomended, does anyone have any experience of this product, new to the Forum, thanks

Welcome. Check age and then condition of your battery. I had similar on my old CLS one crisp morning - battery had decided that it would give up its fight that day!
