Hi everyone, new to the forum but not to Mercedes, driving an E220 and just bought this R231 SL350, after wanting one for many a year, and as you can see by the photo, contentment is in place now.

Cheers

Thank you for your kind welcomes to the forum. Here's another photo of my stable mates. They just fit nicely in the garage.

Cheers

Hi Wighty, thanks for the comments. The SL has been on my wanted list for some time and now I am very pleased to have it, a great car and a pleasure to drive. The "horrible little red thing" has been with me for many years, I gave 100 quid for it and set about it as you can see, bringing her back to almost as new, so she owns me a lot of time, money, tears and blood, so I keep her for fun, (and the odd wedding where I get back some of the money). Regardless of all that, I guess its what we're all about, the love of cars and all things to do with them, so no more about Fiats, it's all about Mercedes.

Yes, when you start with the metal cutter, and don't know where it will end, hoping for enough good metal to be left in place to work with is the first big learning curve. But at the end, after a lot of work and head scratching, the value in the whole job is to have one person say it looks a good job and wherever I go it is appreciated. The SL, well, the pleasure is all mine and just looking at it, sitting in it, and of course driving it all add up to everything I expected it to be and more, a keeper and no mistake.

Cheers
Gary

And to others probably. :)
There are always smiles and comments about the Fiat, mostly I think they are laughing at me, as I am not your standard size individual and fitting in the thing requires techniques best not mentioned. But that's fine, it's all part of the fun and I can take some ribbing.

The SL however, I go into my own world when in that, it's a great car.

Cheers
