Any one got any information on these alternators if all R230 units are the same.
Mine is over charging and the regular is not allowing the consumer battery to charge fully, so looking some guidence on removing the alternator.

SL55 alternator part number:
A0131548502 (180A)
Regulator part number:
A0031544906

SL500 alternator part number:
A0131548202 (150A)
Regulator part number:
A0031545406 or later A0031544906

So alternator is different, later regulator is same

Get in touch with Gav (merc85) if you need a new Bosch alternator. Excellent service and a good price.

New alternator collected, now for the lovely job to refit it. :D
IMG_20190807_153848.jpg

Also put the consumer battery on charge over night and just removed it. Reads 12.9v as apposed to 12.0v reading when it was in the car. It better be the alternator and not the battery after being told the battery is fine, it's your alternator not charging!!
Let the refitment begin.......

Well that wasn't so bad after all, 30 minutes to refit alternator, undertrays, electric fan, belt and plastic engine cover  Seems to be working fine so far :D

Well there seems to be a problem with my charging system, no air and no cruise, consumers off line again and after a 40 minute drive battery reads 11.9volts, an improvement from 11volts I guess.
So alternator not charging or a dud 8 month old battery. I have my old battery on charge and after 8 hours it is reading 13.6volts. The new battery made 12volts after 21hours on charge and after 30 odd minutes of driving read 11. Something volts, so clearly a charging issue?
Hence new alternator, which looks like it wasn't the alternator
More checking required later today.

Check charging voltage at both batteries.
If I were to guess I'd say the charge control module is bad assuming everything else is good. Given you have 2 r230s try swapping it over perhaps. They're a bit eye watering to buy....
