Hi guys so after a lot of pain and hassle I need some real help. My injector leak off pipe was sucking and blowing air creating air locks in system so I replaced with genuine part from merc £75 and now my engine management light keeps coming on still saying fuel injection pump fuel. The car is hard to start and sometimes takes several attempts or even a bit of magic spray can anyone help please is it possible my high pressure fuel pump is dying?? If so is it a difficult job and if anyone can give me a idea on how best to tackle replacing it please

Needs a real star diagnostic other than guessing , have you got a favourite Mercedes independent specialist you use already ?

Cheers buddy and yes I do went to them and they recommended changing all injectors and hp pump since I’d already changed pump and sender in the tank fuel filter leak off pipe etc I think there suggestion was basically change everything just to cover all basis

Have you tested the high pressure pump? The one in the tank is the low pressure.

Hi guys yes still ran but mil light instantly comes on. What has confused me is. The fuel line from my tank to my filter is not a constant stream it’s intermittent when key turned to position 2 as it’s pressuring up and the return to my sender unit from the main line is the same is this normal? And where is the high pressure pump please as struggling to find it. I’ve just ordered a new one for delivery today.

Omg, guessing is going to cost you. The high pressure pump is buried close to bell housing on n/s of engine. Not really a diy job.

So basically a lot of stripping to do first but it’s possibel without removing the engine.

Ho guys update spoke to main dealer and the garage manager told me to test my injectors first with a leak off test as he strongly believes my pump as not failed all my low pressure is because one or more injectors have or are failing.

When Mercedes plugged it in it never came up with fault on pump or they just didn’t say all they really said was yes we can see port 2 injector is reading at minus 57 under load

Why did you buy a high pressure pump?

Just to be on safe side I bought one cause was going to replace everything but now main dealer involved with it taking there advice and having injectors tested.

Sounds like to need to try a different specialist as the one you went to is going to do the same as the dealer, throw parts at it until they get lucky or you run out of money

I’ve just parked it up in a engine rebuild specialist they got it on leak off test I’m heading to Wakefield to pick up new injectors. Do they need coding?
