So here it is, my R172 250CDI SLK in lovely Indium Gray metallic and 29,500 miles. It's got a pretty decent spec with pano roof, Nappa leather electric memory seats with heaters, power fold mirrors, Becker Sat Nav, parktronic and other things I've forgotten or haven't discovered as yet.... I've noticed a couple of niggles since picking it up Saturday so will be discussing them with the dealer - third brake light on the boot half works as in right side of centre okay but nothing on the left of centre and the armrest lever broken / loose so can't get into storage below it. The TPMS came on coming back and one tyre was a little low on pressure so there may be a slow puncture. I've reset it so will keep an eye on it.

Other minor irritations : car is 2006mm wide (mirrors out) garage door opening is 2077mm so precision is required or cheat and power fold the mirrors....

Is it not worth ultimately replacing the two garage doors for a single double door?

I've been very busy since picking it up Saturday - in fact I haven't been out in it since bringing it back! I got it out today to take some more pics and then back in the garage it went. With a bit of luck I met get to use it Thursday and possibly even get the top down if the weather forecast holds.

Finally, some actually top down and interior pics:

My CL would only fit in my garage with the mirrors folded which was easy enough going in...but a little nerve wracking when reversing out even though the head said if you don't move the steering wheel if should be ok. Just shows how wide the car is...W210s would go in with mirrors out and room to spare.

The barn I store the 129 in over winter is 1" per side wider than the 129... and the mirrors don't fold. It has to be reversed in after a 90 degree turn. Needless to say there's a fair bit of jiggling back and forth to get it lined up!

I've got 35mm each side with the mirrors out so it's not too bad. I've had 8 years practice with the Jag which is slightly narrower. The irritating thing is narrow garage doors on a pretty wide garage so one inside there is plenty of room to walk round it.

The best "home improvement" we ever made was shelling out for a garage roller door (we have a double garage and SWMBO absolutely couldn't cope with the old up and over door if it was windy...)

That was over 10 years ago and when it was 5-6 years old it decided to go into "limp" mode. The installer company had disappeared but I found a super guy locally who fixed it. But a couple of weeks ago the motor died completely and the same guy (or one of his engineers) recognised the problem I had - of not being able to get in or out - and came over an hour later and replaced the motor for me. Can't remember exactly how much but it was less than £400 and works perfectly again.
