Hi All,
New to the forum and MB.
So I have be surfing the internet and this loss of power with the ML270 05 seems to be a common issue and seems an fairly easy issue to rectify from my reading.
However I though I would ask for advice on the problem in case I miss something and a few more ideas can never hurt.
So my ML270 is suffering a serious loss of power after driving for 5-35 mins, this only happens on acceleration and the exhaust fumes block out the sun for the poor motorist behind (Unless they drive an Audi then I don't care). After reading forum and general google fun my first though was the MAF as it doesn't seem to be burning fuel completely.
However after taking it to my local garage they said the fault suggested it was a lack of boost on the turbo, which in my mind would make sense as well and would explain the volcanic plumes of black smoke pouring out the back (I exaggerate slightly on this).
So I know the previous said that he had the turbo rebuilt recently????? the car has been serviced somewhat but judging by the air filter I pulled out I think this only happened until 2006. the only other fault code I'm getting is the glow plugs. Having looked at the turbo by recent rebuild he may mean 5 years ago as it doesn't look likely but I may be wrong.
My feeling is the turbo isn't creating enough boost so the engine is over fuelling.
Can anyone help and point me to where I should look next?
Many thanks
Martin
