This is just greedy, 5 SLR's............
I think he has the funds, not been driven muchIf you have the funds and you are a Petrol Head sounds like a good investment to me

I was watching a Jay Leno youtube video with RUF, he was saying how Ferrari owners brag about how few miles their cars have and Porsche owners brag about how many miles they have covered. I'm very much of the Porsche - bought to drive mentality. I don;t buy for investment, I buy to enjoy and use them.
It's not about the money, he has them but doesn't use them - I had 5 cars, I used all of them as I bought them to use not as some investmentMaybe you are in a slightly different market place to the owner of the five SLR's, a few quid short ???

It allows you to use 1 of them whilst the other 4 are in for repair
Exactly. Buy something different. Only once in life did I replace one car with one the same. My then wife twisted my arm up my back.I thought that, 2 cars exactly the same as well, what is the point???

Never since have I ever bought the same model again. Out of 22 personal cars just two were the same. I did work for Warwick University many years back and they were on the Rover Car scheme (all Rover employees over a certain level had access to it) and I had to change my car every six months because of the high mileage I did then. I confess over a two year period having four Rover 400's of various types. It was mainly about lease costs and fuel.
I suppose though thinking about it my last car with them was a 618. I liked it so much that I bought a Honda Accord (almost identical car then) when I changed jobs. That Honda was the car after being written off by a drunk driver, I replaced with another.
If i had a proper car collection (I have three cars now) they would all be different no matter how good.
The 618 I had (brand new being a lease car) was as the four previous 400 series Rovers were, faultless. That said I only had them for 7 months (40k) at the most. As for power, neither it or the Hondas I replaced it with were particularly powerful. I never have had a Yo-Vtec.I have to say that I had a brand new 620 and I thought it was awful. Crap build quality, tinny, rattly and gutless. A mate of mine had the 623 which was better but was still a car I wouldn't have wanted
