My wife has regretted selling her quartz W208 320 cab, since selling it three years ago.
Although there are some nice ones about, especially 55’s , I am not keen on paying the £500 or so ved.

Was looking at finding her an E cabriolet as a cheaper ved option. Her journeys are mostly local but with the odd trip away.
Just looking for ideas, suggestions, must haves and “watch out fors” on them. Am looking spending less than £11k if poss.
Thank you in anticipation

When I change the CLK convertible , I think the E convertible will be next , my favoured engine (and everyone else's ) has got to be a 350cdi V6 at that price .
Edit , not sure how very short local trips will work ? Depends if it can get a decent weekly run to keep things clear , otherwise you will have to go petrol :(

You can get the decent m271 3.5 V6 petrol or the better M276 3.5 V6 petrol.

Not great mpg around town (mid to high 20s) but will do high 30s or 40s on a run.

If the m271, the VED is higher, check for an early engine issue (I cannot recall the details, but some one will) and its still over 270 bhp and a nice noise.....

That said, the 200 isn't bad, and a bit better on fuel.

Plenty in that price range, especially at this time of year

Had several MB's. Latest bought from new in 2012 E Coupe 250cdi. Now with 68k on clock and averaged a true 49.8mpg over that time. Plenty of power, comfortable, and apart from one sensor replacement, absolutely reliable. Great car. Most impressed! A keeper.

Thank you, we did look at the ad for that one. A nice car but the interior is a bit “Marmite” imho.

One of the best colour combos I’ve seen was a cabriolet with palladium coach work and red leather it looked absolutely right. The trouble with red leather is it doesn’t photograph well and looks much better in the real

I’m quite happy with red leather, as you say it does look so much better in life. I just think that that particular car has too much going on inside for me.
I shall continue to mooch around for one for shmbo,

Thanks for sending the link for that one though.

I would buy it, gorgeous colour combination has memory pack, NAV and loads more, you could always get the brushed steel wrapped black to tone it down.

It is the steel that puts me off and did consider getting it covered, wrapped ?. It is as I would say “busy” on the interior, too many choices. As you say a good spec with only the air scarf missing. The memory pack seems to be the option most missing on these cars for some reason.
I haven’t discounted it just yet.

Just having another look, she quite likes it. The camera and red does it for her.

It is lovely, as they are based on the C class W204 chassis you will get the brushed alloy trim. My mother has the same engine in a C250CGi and it is lovely

I had red leather in my 230 and it was completely stunning - don’t miss one with it is my (bad?) advice

Anything, as long as it's NOT black leather... ;)
