At lunch to-day my Sister said in the event of an impending frost she had an application that she sprayed on the screen at night and the screen didn't ice up. She was unable to tell me what it was. Anybody know anything about this stuff ??
Halfords sell it , it’s just like a de-icer thingy that helps prevent the ice sticking so much . I used to use it on the clk side windows to help them drop the half inch to allow the door to open (the glass used to freeze to the door seal otherwise ) . It helps but doesn’t fully prevent ice when it’s a real cold one

Lubed the door locks on both cars and jiggled the metal key in the locks

Fitted my iPad on the dash with magnets so I could watch the football whilst driving back from Essex

Took it (r230) for a drive to remove all the leaves off it.

Nothing fancy for me.. quick recap:

* S212 - Find vacuum leak in engine using cold start fluid spray
* S212 - Replaced under trays - cleaned up oil covered sump pan in process (with brake clean).. so I can re-inspect in a month or so..but suspect gasket leak.
* S212 - Eventually removed front tires (for jack stand fallback).. seized. Cleaned up hubs with wire brush and added anti seize before replacing.
* BAD: S212 - When tightening lock nut, the socket wasn't fully engage and jumped/sheered the lock nut. Close call, but I immediately hammered (!) in the lock key and removed lock nut.
* BAD: R230 Went about working on front brakes, but realised I have misplaced the lock key.

Key takeaways.. (pun!) -- Short one lock nut for S212, missing key for R230 -- I might need to order two new sets. The shame of it!!!!

I think I may have left the lock key for R230 on the worktop in Pit Start garage, so may drive up there some evening next week for a look. I suspect it will be sitting there on the counter somewhere. I am toying with the idea of not replacing the lock nut on the S212 and replacing with a regular nut. It's a game of risk.. What are the chances of somebody stealing the wheel. On one hand i'd be ****ed if it happened but on the other, I imagine thieves in London are only interested in M/AMG/RS wheels of the world and not a lowly 17" standard.

First thing I do is remove the locking wheel bolts and replace with standard

On which car? The broken one or all of them?
All of them, too many issues with them not coming off due to ham-fisted over tightening

Fair enough.. I did actually think about that for a moment. I am sure I am not the first person to sheer one.

Would you not be concerned about theft. Then again, master sets can easily be acquired and I am sure thieves are well armed.

Not concerned about theft, it’s not a thing these days (well not that I’m aware of)

Inclined to agree, for the most part, unless high end performance wheels for Audi/BMW/MB/Etc.. in which case the thieves probably have key sets anyway.

I will prob eliminate the lock nuts..

I watched mine get cleaned yesterday :)
Inside & out for £15 - hardly worth getting my own gear out!!

Reminds me of a small village down the road from me.. In the past two weeks, I have noticed the mobile petrol station to fill up your car.. and then on a different car the mobile car wash.
