Is it worth remapping clk c209 220 cdi auto 56reg? Primarily I would be looking for a little more response (I know a bit to ask from an autobox) and MPG. The question is relevant to members experience of how much it cost for a 'decent' remap and would this strictly need a rolling road? I know this might geg an emotive response from some please try and keep it objective. Many thanks in advance for your input.

For response “yes”

For economy “no”

Economy stays the same , as for response could be down to the wonderful , accelerator pedal - ecu - throttle body , drive by wire delay.

Pedal box..

So are we roughly saying that the stock ecu map in this instance is a pretty good job by Mercedes and improvement would be fractional in terms of just ecu mapping ie without physical mods.

Thanks for the info gazworld but real-world I read that as fractional real-world power increase near same fuel economy. Just to for prospective(not glamourous) remaped Audi a2 1.4tdi from 75bhp to 105bhp and achieved real-world 6 mpg improvement for 40gbp remap of the ecu via enthusiast forum member.

I would of thought people who re-map there cars, do so for one reason only, more POWER, and are not really @rsed about more MPG. :)
If by chance you do get more MPG then great, but it's very doubtful.

You don’t get more mpg, you just fool the display so it shows more economy...

Power is all at the top of the rev range seldomed used .
More about every day low rpm torque making the drive more effortless .

Also means you can get in a higher gear earlier which may improve mpg .

I can only go off my own experience on a 1.4tdi Audi a2 that post ecu remap the car was so much better to drive much much more responsive and I was getting 6 to 7 mpg improved on each full tank on my own calculations of fuel versus miles covered and via fuelly track in app over 10000 miles in 4 months.

The auto box on the CLK 220CDi is only rated for not much more than it puts out as standard, just a heads up for you. (5 speed, that is)

Much appreciated input. I was very silly and trusted the dealer when I asked was it 5g or 7g he said 7g ..... it's not .... I should of checked myself. Anyway remap not worth it. Cheers.
