I did try Khumo but just couldn’t get on with them, just a little twitchy when it’s wet compared to the Nexen’s.
You’re right about winters, didn’t like the ones I tried at all, very Cliff like response when they went

Yes that's my experience with them as well, to be fair I push them in the dry, but they wear well which why I suspect a bit snappy in the wet.

Yes, pretty much the same experience here, I will get 25k miles of of mine, luckily I don’t have a staggered setup so I can rotate front to back part way through, means I always replace in 4’s, but that’s not exactly a bad thing as I always get a nice little discount when fitting, normally have the geometry done at the same time so always feel lovely on new rubber

For an “older” shape CLS that has scrubbed up really well :D

thanks , needs we polish , but it’s in great condition throughout and pretty well equipped with 114000 mls. And good history .

After spending the last week sitting in the rain I decided to put the SL back in the garage. The plus side of spending a week in the rain is that there were no roof leaks :)

Mine did a few tip runs on Sunday: E-Class Van!!!
Raced a Porsche (I won 'cos i know the Gatso's that are turned off!!)
Much steam from the arches when i stopped, and more brake fade than i had hoped for :)

You were racing the driver not the Porsche...

Fitted a new front wing on my s210 this afternoon. Removing the old wing was not easy due to rusty bolts where it attaches to the front bumper and those pesky hidden bolts that attach on to the base of the headlamp unit.
I painted it myself using Hycote brilliant silver spray cans (2 cans primer, 4 cans base coat & 2 cans lacquer).
Looks ok (note i do not say looks perfect sadly) but better than the rotten one that was on it.
S210's really are over-built in the A post area, looks very strong.

Quick tip for anyone removing a wing which is beyond repair...:------ Remove headlamp ( has to come off any way,) and any other easily removable parts ( underwing shields etc) Then take a flat bladed cold chisel and a hammer ( safety glasses and gloves are non-negotiable must have's , goes without saying) then start cutting about 2-3" away from the bolted edges, all the way round the wing..... when the cut section is off, it's easy to remove the bolted sections then. It's a method that is commonly used by panelbeaters, using an air-chisel.

Done that a few times back in the late 70's I also cut a mini bodyshell in half with my arc welder...

The wing i removed was so rotten on its lower leading edge i removed it by hacksaw in the end.
Update on Hycote brilliant silver spray cans.....colour match is actually pretty good, so if anyone with a brilliant silver car is thinking of using them i would recommend.
A shop called "The Range" sells them for £5 each btw so good value.

A 4" mini-angle grinder is pretty good too, but remember that the hot sparks can and will damage glass ( especially windscreen's) and they don't do the paintwork any good either, so a cover up is essential. That's why I mainly use the hammer and wide blade cold chisel..

One thing to be wary of is there a number of different "Brilliant Silver" shades, all with 744 paint code.
We have 3 silver MBs and they're all subtly different. I replaced the wings on the 210 a while back with wings from another facelift 210 and they're darker than the original paintwork.

I suppose that is always going to happen because at some point someone is mixing up a quantity of paint to be used on the production line and small inconsistencies will happen.
The colour straight from the Hycote can was a pretty good match on my car though so worth trying imho.
